In 2021 I graduated from an International Baccalaureate high school where I learned the value of deep, critical thinking and analysis and I was able to explore my artistic interests, which are photography, music, and writing (my artist name is Lucy Bishop). As a photographer, I like to explore the intersectionality between humans and the natural world. Currently I am working on a series of reflective surfaces that capture that intersectionality. I have spent extended periods camping and volunteering in Yellowstone and other national parks where I enjoyed the opportunity of taking many wildlife photos. I also write and perform my own songs (website: LucyBishopMusic.com). With my music, I enjoy finding the surprising lyric that captures a mood or an irony in a new way. I am currently attending the university of Washington and considering a social science major such as sociology. I am also deeply invested in my music and songwriting and writing in general, and plan on minoring in English. What am I most passionate about? I want always to dive past the surface to get at what is real and true, for me. I always want to understand the meaning behind every gesture and look, the truth of lived experience, the weight of a word or a composition. What is really happening? What are people actually feeling? The images people project about themselves don’t interest me—but I look at them to see what is reflected back about us as a species or as individuals.
