I was born and raised in Kigali, Rwanda, grew up in a family with two sisters.
In 1994, Rwanda experienced a devastating genocide against the Tutsi, resulting in the loss of over 100 family members, my family belongings owned and did not have the chance to get to know my grandparents, unties, and uncles from both my parents. Genocide is a terrible thing that has happened in some parts of the world. I taught myself how to play soccer at a young age, a sport that I grew to love passionately.
Despite my love for soccer, I realized I wasn't naturally talented enough to be noticed by scouts. Instead, I took matters into my own hands and decided to teach myself. As a young boy, I spent hours watching tutorial videos on YouTube and practicing dribbling techniques in my room every Saturday. I remained focused on my goal of improving my skills and becoming a better player. Teaching myself soccer was an incredible journey that required a lot of hard work. I was determined to improve my skills, so I watched videos and practiced tirelessly.
The journey to maintaining a 4.0 GPA may be challenging, with sacrifices along the way, but the sense of accomplishment and pride that comes with it can be truly rewarding and impactful for one's future. I pushed myself to excel academically, balancing my studies with a deep passion for soccer. Teaching myself the sport was a challenging journey, but I persevered with determination and grit in my skills both on the field and in the classroom. I am proud of my achievements and excited about what the future holds.
In addition to excelling academically, I also pursued a passion for soccer. Determined to improve my skills, I taught myself the game through online tutorials, practice sessions, and friendly matches with classmates. Through my hard work and dedication, I was able to secure a scholarship that brought me to Spire Academy Institute in Geneva, Ohio. This opportunity was a dream come true, allowing me to pursue both my academic and athletic goals in a supportive and challenging environment. At school, I continued to excel, earning awards such as Most Outstanding Math Student, Most Outstanding 11th Grade Student, and the Social Studies Award. I also received the Certificate of Achievement and consistently made the headmaster’s list for my exemplary academic performance.
Diligently balancing my studies and passion for soccer, I self-taught the sport, continually striving to enhance my skills. This dedication led me to secure a scholarship to attend Spire Academy Institute in Ohio, an opportunity that opened new horizons in both education and sports. Despite facing challenges and naysayers, I remained resolute, driven by my aspirations and unwavering work ethic. However, the scholarship not only represents my achievements but also holds immense significance for my family. With my father losing his job, he is unable to work at present was always the person who inspired me every day.
The obstacles of moving to a new continent and my parents' inability to work only fueled my motivation. I never allowed these challenges to slow me down; instead, they acted as a driving force to push me harder toward success. My strong work ethic, instilled in me from a young age, became my guiding light, leading me through every difficulty and triumph. I embraced each hurdle as an opportunity to grow and excel, knowing that my perseverance and dedication would pave the way for a brighter future. Despite the changes and uncertainties, my focus never wavered, and I remained steadfast in my pursuit of education and personal growth.

I was born in Rwanda, a country known for its vibrant culture and resilient people. However, the dark shadow of the 1994 genocide loomed large over the land, leaving deep scars on the hearts and minds of many, including my own family. The atrocities of that time shattered lives and tore families apart, leaving a legacy of pain and trauma that we carried with us for years. I embarked on a journey of self-discovery and healing. I realized that education was not just a means to achieve personal success but also a path toward healing generational wounds. My studies and experiences taught me that mental and emotional well-being are just as important as physical health. I embraced the idea of therapy, understanding that seeking help and engaging in conversations about our pain is a sign of strength, not weakness. I encouraged my family and community to join me on this journey of healing and forgiveness. Together, we learned that acknowledging our past, accepting our pain, and forgiving one another were crucial steps toward building a brighter future. By opening up to each other and nurturing a culture of compassion and understanding, we began to mend the broken pieces of our lives and hearts. Today, I stand as a testament to the power of resilience, education, and healing. I carry the lessons of the past with me, not as burdens but as guiding stars, illuminating the path toward a future filled with hope, love, and forgiveness.
