I am an immigrant from Brazil who arrived in the U.S. in 2017. I love helping and meeting people. I also love to play the viola and play tennis. I am currently working on a project to help the immigrant families at my school get more accustomed to the U.S. system of education to prevent people from going through what my family went through. I am eager to go to college and begin a new chapter of my life.

Ratan Lal Mundada Memorial Scholarship
My educational journey, originating from Brazil and now navigating the challenging terrain of pursuing a dream in the United States, has been marked by financial constraints that have shaped my resilience and determination. As I embark on this scholarship application, I am compelled to share how my financial situation has affected my education and why the support of this scholarship is not just a lifeline for my academic pursuits but a catalyst for positive change in society.
The decision to move to the United States was fueled by my parents' unwavering belief in the transformative power of education. However, the financial burden associated with pursuing higher education in a new country has been a significant hurdle. To make ends meet, I found myself taking on a job that, while essential for covering expenses, was far removed from my passion for STEM. This compromise between financial stability and academic pursuit has been a challenging balancing act, forcing me to divide my time and energy between work and education.
Working in a non-STEM job to afford my college education has been a valuable but demanding experience. While it has provided me with financial independence, it has also limited the time and focus I can dedicate to my studies and my true academic calling in STEM fields. This scholarship represents not just financial relief but an opportunity to break free from this constraint, allowing me to channel all my time and energy into the pursuit of knowledge and excellence in STEM.
Receiving this scholarship will be a game-changer in my educational journey. It will alleviate the financial strain, providing me the freedom to fully immerse myself in STEM coursework, research opportunities, and extracurricular activities that will deepen my understanding and expertise in my chosen field. The impact of this financial support extends beyond my personal development; it is an investment in a future where my dreams and aspirations intersect with a positive transformation for society.
My dream is to establish a pharmaceutical company dedicated to providing affordable life-saving drugs. The scholarship will serve as a stepping stone towards this dream by allowing me to focus entirely on my studies and gain practical experience in STEM disciplines. It will enable me to pursue internships, research projects, and networking opportunities without the constant concern of balancing work and academic responsibilities.
By empowering me to dedicate my full attention to STEM, this scholarship will not only enhance my knowledge and skills but will also contribute to the broader societal impact I aspire to achieve. Affordable life-saving drugs are a necessity, and my future pharmaceutical company aims to bridge the gap between accessibility and medical necessity. The positive effect on society will be profound, ensuring that individuals from all walks of life have access to essential medications, transcending socioeconomic barriers and fostering a healthier and more equitable community.
In essence, this scholarship is not just about funding my education; it is an investment in a future where STEM innovations contribute to societal well-being. As I break free from financial constraints, I am poised to become a catalyst for change, realizing my dream of making a meaningful impact in the pharmaceutical industry and ensuring that affordable healthcare is a reality for everyone.
Augustus L. Harper Scholarship
Growing up in Brazil, the concept of education transcended mere classrooms and textbooks; it became a beacon of hope and a testament to the unwavering belief that my parents had in the transformative power of knowledge. Their decision to uproot our lives and move to the United States was driven by the aspiration to provide me with a better education and broader career opportunities, a decision that has profoundly shaped my understanding of the value education brings to one's life.
In Brazil, the limitations in educational resources and opportunities underscored the significance my parents placed on acquiring knowledge as a means of securing a brighter future. Witnessing their sacrifices and the resilience with which they pursued education for our family reinforced the idea that education is not merely a pursuit of academic excellence but a gateway to opportunities and personal growth.
The transition from Brazil to the USA marked not only a geographical change but a profound shift in the quality and depth of my educational experiences. Immersed in a dynamic learning environment, I discovered the true potential of education as a catalyst for personal and professional development. The exposure to advanced resources, expert faculty, and a curriculum designed to foster critical thinking has equipped me with the tools to approach challenges with confidence and creativity.
Education, however, is not confined to the classroom. It extends into the community, and my commitment to knowledge-sharing became evident through my experiences as a tutor. I have dedicated my time to tutoring fellow students in a variety of subjects, including math, science, and music. This role has not only strengthened my understanding of these subjects but has also instilled in me a profound sense of satisfaction in helping others unlock their potential through education.
Witnessing the struggles my parents faced in adapting to the U.S. education system inspired me to take action on a larger scale. In high school, I embarked on an initiative to create a program aimed at assisting immigrant families in navigating the complexities of the U.S. education system. Drawing from my own experiences, I sought to provide resources and guidance to help these families understand and integrate into the educational landscape. This endeavor was not just a community service project; it was a testament to my belief that education should be accessible to all, regardless of cultural or linguistic barriers.
In essence, education has been the guiding force that has shaped my journey from Brazil to the USA. It has been a source of empowerment, enabling me to transcend geographical and cultural boundaries. As I continue to pursue my academic and career aspirations, I am committed to leveraging the transformative power of education not only for personal growth but also as a means to uplift and empower others, fostering a community where knowledge knows no borders.

As a dedicated and ambitious individual, my journey has been shaped by a profound passion for science and business, fueling my aspirations to establish a pharmaceutical company dedicated to providing affordable life-saving drugs. The pursuit of this dream has led me to a pivotal moment where the support of a scholarship becomes paramount in propelling me towards success.
The prospect of opening my own pharmaceutical company is not just a career choice but a mission rooted in the belief that everyone should have access to life-saving medications regardless of their financial standing. This scholarship is crucial to my journey as it will alleviate the financial burden of education, allowing me to focus wholeheartedly on my studies and gain hands-on experience in both science and business.
Moving from Brazil to pursue my education was a significant challenge, marked by both physical and emotional hurdles. The physical distance from my family was already daunting, but when I transitioned to college, the emotional toll intensified. Now, not only was I far from my home country, but I was also separated from my parents and brother. This period of emotional weakness was a testing ground for my resilience.
Overcoming the emotional challenges required a deep introspection and a commitment to growth. I sought support from my newfound college community, building connections that gradually filled the void left by the physical distance from my family. Engaging in extracurricular activities and forming close friendships became instrumental in creating a support system that mirrored the warmth and familiarity of home.
This experience of navigating emotional weakness not only strengthened my resilience but also sharpened my interpersonal skills, a crucial aspect for future entrepreneurial endeavors. It taught me the importance of adaptability and the ability to thrive outside my comfort zone, skills that are indispensable in the competitive world of science and business.
Receiving this scholarship would be a transformative step in my journey, enabling me to pursue my studies with unwavering focus and dedication. It would provide the financial stability necessary to explore internships, research opportunities, and extracurricular activities that will contribute to my growth as a future entrepreneur in the pharmaceutical industry.
In conclusion, my journey is a testament to my commitment to bridging the gap between science and business, driven by a vision of making life-saving medications accessible to all. This scholarship represents more than just financial assistance; it symbolizes an investment in my dreams, my resilience, and my potential to make a meaningful impact in the world. I am eager to continue this journey with the support of this scholarship, turning aspirations into reality and creating a positive change in the healthcare landscape.
Sikdope “Music Is The Cure” Scholarship
Being able to learn English in the United Sates has been one of the most valuable experiences of my life. My parents decided to move to the U.S. in order to give me better opportunities in life; one of which was to be able to learn English. At the beginning, it was hard and frustrating not being able to communicate with people. I couldn't make friends and people often ignored me, but as time passed I became more fluent and I was able to express my concerns, needs, and ideas to other people. I am deeply grateful for being able to experience a new culture and language, and I hope to make the best of any opportunity life gives me.
The community that helped me the most while I wasn't confident with my English was my school's orchestra program. I had never played a musical instrument before, but during 8th grade I learned to play the viola. Not only were the people in the orchestra program welcoming, but they often provided tips about the school and helped me get accustomed to my new environment. It was there that I made most of my friends. This positive interaction, which was made possible because of music, greatly improved my confidence, social skills, English, and self-esteem. Music has also helped me express myself when I can't find the words to do it. Today I can not imagine my life without music in it.
In the future I hope to be in a stable financial situation so I can help other people. Whether I donate money or do volunteer work I hope to give back to the world by providing people in difficult situations with opportunities like I was given. For example a dream of mine is to be able to bring music to the poor in Brazil (my home country). I believe I will be able to accomplish this, but currently my financial situation is not ideal. I want to go to a good college to meet many great people and learn all I can in order to give back to the world in the future.
