TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) MOA Scholarship
    1. I found TXT back in April of 2019! I fell in love with their music and found myself reconnecting with them in May of 2020 after some time away from K-pop. 2. The most important characteristic of a MOA is the ability to accept everyone for who they are. The members themselves have cherished MOAs regardless of how they identify or present themselves to the world. Thus, the fans should be able to reflect these beliefs. 3. My TXT bias is Beomgyu! At first, I saw him as a cute 17-year-old boy with a bright future ahead of him. However, the more I learned about his contrasting calm and energetic personalities, the more I realized how similar we are. 4. Coincidentally, my ultimate bias within K-pop is Beomgyu. Beomgyu is the only idol who has made me feel seen as a fan and aspire to be someone like him. The connection I feel with him is something I will always cherish, and I hope to one day be able to tell him how much he means to me properly. 5. My favorite TXT song is Miracle. This song reminds me of the love the members have for each other and how I wish to join them on their tomorrows as well. When I first heard this song live in ACT: Promise in Madison Square Garden, I teared up when they asked MOAs to join their chant. 6. I have seen TXT live before, and they have always blown me away by how much effort they put into putting on a good show. I saw them over 10 times and I always try to scrape up some money to go see them when they come by my area. I have recommended that people who are casual fans go see them live to enjoy the ambiance. 7. My all-time favorite concept is the Fight concept from The Chaos Chapter: Fight or Escape! I hold sentimental value towards it as I bought my first TXT album during this era. 8. I currently work three jobs throughout the week to keep up with financial demands. I work at a daycare throughout the weekdays. I am also employed at a public school as a teacher's aide. On my weekends, I work as a play therapist. 9. My biggest struggle is covering tuition. While I have these jobs, the costs are still very burdensome, resulting in extremely difficult financial situations. I essentially wish to be able to cover my college finances, so I will not have to be reliant on different forms of income. 10. TXT has been a source of my strength ever since the height of COVID. After finding them again, I found a purpose in bettering myself and my life. One of my ultimate goals is to have the ability to tell them personally how much of a positive influence they have left in my life. 11. With my pursuit of a doctoral degree in clinical psychology, I hope to bring a better understanding of one's true self. Before I had gone to therapy, I did not know how to cope on my own and process things I had gone through. However, my old therapist had helped me understand what was wrong and what to do, as well as how to live with my traumas. This has helped me understand myself more, and I aspire to bring this inner light to those who feel lost in their thoughts.
TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) MOA Scholarship
"If you know Lory, you know TXT." This phrase is one my friends love to toss around about how dedicated I am to TXT. My name is Loryanne Melgar, and I am currently a first-generation Latina college student. I am presently enrolled at Kean University, studying psychology, and I plan to attend graduate school at Princeton or Rutgers to further my studies. My ultimate goal is to become a psychologist; I especially aim to help minorities who are in need. I sought a career in psychology since my therapist inspired me to help those like she had helped me. Driven by my aspiration, I have made it my life's goal to help those struggling by listening to them and providing assistance in any way I can. Since my goals do require finances, I have been working two jobs to keep up with my financial demands of university. I am currently a teacher's assistant at my local daycare during my weekdays! On the weekends, I work as an ABA therapist who helps autistic children through play therapy. While writing this, I mulled over what solidified my love and dedication towards these 5 boys. I could write about their looks, their craft, their exceptional dancing skills, amazing storyline. These traits listed were a factor as to why they are my ultimate group, but they are not what drew me in. What brought me to TXT was their dynamic with each other and their fan base. I particularly recall one instance where Beomgyu comforted a fan who suffered from trauma. Rather than him saying the typical "I believe in you!" he chose to say "Let's teach each other." This was something that stuck with me back in June 2021, which was one of the hardest points of my life. I found Beomgyu and TXT when I was still recovering from the pandemic, while suffering from immigration issues with my father. These words felt like we were walking down this difficult point in my life together, not something I had to bear alone. I have been a K-pop fan since 2017, and I have liked many groups. However, ever since I became a MOA, I have never felt more seen and loved as a fan than I do with them. The good looks and music were just a plus. TXT was the reason I decided to go forth with my college education and why I got my life back together. TXT's first American tour inspired me to rejoin the workforce. After Taehyun said he was in college while being an idol, it motivated me to attempt college. I owe TXT as to where I am today: a healthier standpoint in life. Their love for each other has made me grow fond of each member. Their love for their fans radiates in their day-to-day activity, and I have been able to experience it firsthand. One precious moment I hold onto is how Soobin has consistently remembered me throughout their tours. I would have assumed he would forget about me due to all the faces he sees, but he does not. He always makes sure to acknowledge me whenever he sees me on tour. They have written so many songs that are odes to the band or their fans, such as "Miracle", "Song of the Stars", just to name a few. These songs carry so much love and affection for not just their fans, but them as a group. Their love for each other is what makes me such a dedicated MOA, since I see them as my precious people. As previously stated, Taehyun was a massive driving force as to why I went to college. I plan to make him and the rest of TXT proud by continuing my studies. TXT recently signed a global partnership with UNICEF to help adolescents who struggle with their mental health. Since their goals align with mine on mental health, I feel like I am contributing to the cause. I aspire to make them proud by finishing my studies and pursuing my dream career, so that I can help people. Similar to how they have helped me, I wish to help those struggling.
