Bio

When I was born, my family knew that I was very special and I would accomplish everything I want. As a child my dream was to work and help my mom financially. My mom work every single day to put food on the table. I waited patiently to grow older to start looking for a job, until the day I got a seizure. I was taken to a neurologist and told me that I should stop going to school because within a year I would get paralyzed. My mother refused to listen to the doctor and she told me, “If I need to take you to school in a hospital bed I would, but you are going to graduate from high school.” My mom did everything to help me. She took me to different doctors, paid medical exams, and paid for physical therapy, even though we were poor. When I graduated from high school, my neurologist cited me to tell me something important. He said to me, “Congratulations Loretta, now you can look for a career and go to college.” That moment was my biggest accomplishment in my short life. The doctor told me that I couldn’t study, but now I’m in college. I overcome the odds. My goal is to inspire people who have difficulties in life. I want to prove that if you work hard you can accomplish anything, and that everything is possible. .Once I graduate from the university I want to work as a social worker and help people who have disabilities.

My world started to fall when I was diagnosed with a neurological problem that could threaten my life. I have many dreams and wishes waiting to come true. I dreamed of studying, traveling, and becoming an independent woman. The moment the doctor diagnosed me, he gave me the most terrible news that destroyed my dreams, wishes, and faith in God. My faith in God is the most crucial aspect of my life. It gives me a reason to give thanks for everything that I have. However, my faith broke the day I was diagnosed. I was diagnosed with a degenerative disease that affects my brain, body, speech, and vision, and in the future, I will be in a vegetative state. The doctor told me that the life that I had lived had ended. Dr. Talwar told me I wouldn't have a normal life, and I wouldn't be able to study and have a career because my brain would stop functioning and my body. As time passed, I regained my faith in God and became much stronger because I had my family to support me. My mom helped to overcome my illness by every means. My family raised a lot of money to be able to take me to different doctors, pay for different medical exams, and pay for physical therapy. With their help, I could graduate from High School, which was a great accomplishment for my family and me. After I graduated from High School, Dr. Talwar called me for a check-up. When he finished the check-up, he said, "Congratulations, Loretta, now you can look for a career and go to college." That was the best day of my life because I could overcome the odds. I went from having nothing to having everything that someone could wish for in their life. Dr. Talwar told me I wouldn't be able to study, but now I can look for it. Dr. Talwar told me that my case was a miracle and that what my family had done for me helped me. In conclusion, after all, I have been through, I have changed to a more positive outlook with the support of my family. I have maintained a positive outlook on my illness because I want to prove to the world that everything is possible and that I was able to do everything I want to accomplish. I want to share that everything is possible when you fight for it and stay positive. I want to inspire people to stay positive in difficult times, even in the darkest times. A positive attitude can move mountains, rivers, and defeat the most deadly diseases.
