My name is Logan, and I’m passionate about serving my country and community through a future in cybersecurity. I plan to pursue a degree in cybersecurity and work for the federal government to help protect the nation’s digital systems. I’m also determined to join the U.S. Air Force, where I can combine my passion for technology with a strong desire to serve and lead.
I’ve always loved coding; whether it’s building websites, exploring cybersecurity tools, or solving programming puzzles, I enjoy the challenge and creativity that comes with it. I believe coding is not just a skill but a powerful way to make a difference. My interest in technology is matched by my commitment to growth and self-discipline, which I’ve developed through years of karate. Martial arts have taught me patience, focus, and resilience; qualities that guide me in everything I do.
Art is another passion of mine. Drawing allows me to express my ideas in a creative way, and it balances my technical interests with imagination. Together, these skills make me a well-rounded and driven student.
I believe I’m a strong candidate for scholarships because I’m focused, hardworking, and committed to using my education to serve others. I want to make a real impact in the world; by protecting our nation’s cybersecurity, serving in the military, and inspiring others through my work and example.

Shepherd E. Solomon Memorial Scholarship
The first time I helped my little nephew fix his school Chromebook, he looked at me like I had just performed magic. I realized in that moment how much I could offer to others, not just through tech skills, but through patience, time, and care. Since then, I’ve made it my mission to use what I know to give back.
As a young Black male from Maryland with a passion for coding and cybersecurity, I’ve found purpose in helping others, especially those who are often overlooked or underserved. I volunteer at local community centers and afterschool programs, offering tutoring in basic computer skills and STEM subjects. Many of the students I work with don’t have access to the same resources or support that others might take for granted. Whether it’s showing a classmate how to write a simple program or fixing a broken laptop so someone can complete their homework, I do my best to bridge the gap.
I currently serve as a cadet in North Point High School’s Air Force Junior ROTC program, where I’ve taken on leadership roles and supported the team by helping maintain and troubleshoot our classroom’s computer equipment. When cadets or instructors need help with software, connectivity, or devices, I’m often the first one called. Being in AFJROTC has strengthened my sense of discipline, teamwork, and service; values that fuel both my academic and personal goals. It’s also given me a strong foundation as I prepare for my future in the U.S. Air Force.
My service doesn’t stop with technology. I also support younger kids through art activities, helping them use creativity as a way to express themselves and build confidence. I’ve organized drives to collect school supplies, participated in neighborhood clean-up efforts, and worked with elder veterans in my community to help them navigate digital tools like smartphones and email. Each experience has shown me that giving back doesn’t have to be big to be meaningful, it just has to come from a place of sincerity and care.
Giving back is deeply personal to me because I understand what it feels like to need help and not know where to find it. I’ve seen too many talented and driven young people fall behind simply because no one was there to support them. I want to be someone who changes that story. I don’t serve my community for recognition. I serve because I believe it’s my responsibility to make the path easier for others where I can.
Receiving the Shepherd E. Solomon Scholarship would allow me to continue this mission. It would support my journey to become a cybersecurity expert and a proud member of the United States Air Force; two paths where I can protect, serve, and empower others. Like Shepherd E. Solomon, I hope to live a life defined by courage, compassion, and lasting impact.
