Bio

ICU patient care tech and nursing student with over a decade of experience as a CNA in a variety of specialties, including working the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic. I am in my 3rd semester of my LVN program and want to bridge into an RN program and transition from my role as a tech into an ICU nurse. My long term goal is to become a CRNA. I am pursuing scholarships to support my lifelong nursing education. Securing financial support allows me to offset educational costs, reducing my reliance on extra hospital shifts, so I can fully dedicate my focus on becoming the best nurse I know I'll be :)

As the eldest daughter, I naturally stepped into a leadership and caregiving role within my family. This responsibility became my true calling as I managed the complex care for my nonverbal uncle, who lives with down syndrome and multiple chronic health conditions. I help manage his care, advocate for his needs, and make sure he’s safe and supported. Being his conservator has taught me more than any textbook ever could, it’s shown me the power of empathy, patience, and the importance of truly listening to those who are often overlooked. Through him, I’ve developed a deep respect for the developmental disability community, and I carry that into every patient interaction. He’s shown me that nursing isn’t just about what you do, it’s about how you show up for people when they need you most. In 2013, I became a certified nursing assistant and started my career in a skilled nursing facility. It didn’t take long to realize how emotionally intense this work could be, especially when caring for patients at the end of their life. I’ll never forget the first patient I lost. That moment was heavy, and it stayed with me. It taught me that caregiving isn’t just about helping someone through life, it’s also about honoring them in their final moments, with dignity, compassion, and presence. Later, I transitioned into acute care in hospitals, where I cared for patients of all ages. Working on the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic was the most challenging period of my career, but also the most defining. In the ICU, I moved beyond the role of a tech and became the sole connection between isolated patients and their families. I navigated the physical exhaustion of long night shifts in heavy PPE, but the true weight was emotional. I stood as a surrogate for family members who couldn't be at the bedside, holding iPads for final goodbyes and ensuring that no patient faced their most vulnerable moments alone. Some of the most meaningful moments in my career were the quiet ones, like sitting with a patient who had no visitors, simply reminding them they weren’t alone. These experiences have shaped me. They’ve made me resilient, taught me to think clearly under pressure and most of all, deepened my commitment to compassionate care. They’re also what solidified my decision to become a nurse, not just to treat illness, but to make sure every person I care for feels seen, heard, and valued. My long term goal is to become a registered nurse specializing in critical care. Currently, serving in the ICU as a patient care tech has provided me with a unique 360 degree view of patient survival. I have learned that ICU nursing is a delicate balance of high tech vigilance and high touch compassion. Whether I am acting as the unit’s 'early warning system' by interpreting life threatening arrhythmias on a monitor, or serving as a first responder providing CPR during a code blue, I am driven by the profound human strength I witness daily. I strive to be the advocate who offers a calm presence, ensuring that even in the most intense critical moments, the patient and their family are treated with unwavering dignity and respect. For more than a decade, I’ve had the privilege of caring for people in my Modesto community during their most vulnerable times. When I'm a nurse, I want to continue to show up every day for them, when they need me the most, and hope I've left a lasting, positive difference in their lives during their healing journey.
