Bio

I am passionate about storytelling and the ways media can connect people and ideas. My journey began at Southeastern Technical High School, where I earned a diploma in Digital Cinema and Broadcasting and discovered my love for film and broadcast production. Since then, I have worked on award-winning short films as a Second Assistant Camera and Director of Photography, even competing in Nationals at SkillsUSA. I am now a student at the University of Hartford, majoring in Digital Media and Journalism and Business Analytics and Managerial Economics with a minor in Dance. As an Assistant Producer for the university’s Student Television Network, I continue to grow as a storyteller while developing leadership and collaboration skills that I hope to use to create meaningful, impactful media.

I’ve always been drawn to storytelling and visual media, but my passion for broadcasting really began when I started studying Digital Cinema and Broadcasting in high school. That experience opened my eyes to how powerful media can be. Through classes and hands-on production work, I learned how cameras, lighting, editing, and teamwork all come together to create something impactful. Working on film productions and competing in SkillsUSA strengthened my confidence and showed me that media has the ability to connect communities and give people a voice. Those experiences motivated me to continue pursuing film and broadcasting as both a creative and purposeful career path. When I entered college, I attended a panel with the Vice President of Producing for WWE. Listening to him talk about his journey in the industry and the behind-the-scenes work that goes into live sports and entertainment broadcasting unexpectedly sparked an interest in sports broadcasting that I had never considered before. His insights made me curious about how live sports are produced and how production teams work together to capture moments as they happen. After that panel, I decided to explore this area more deeply. I began taking training sessions on my school’s sports production truck, where I learned how to use the Replay system and how to film athletes while they move full speed. These experiences showed me how much preparation and teamwork are required to successfully produce a live sporting event. I found this area so fascinating; the rest was history. My passion for sports is also deeply connected to my background. Coming from the Dominican Republic, a country where sports—especially baseball—bring people together, I grew up seeing how athletics can unite me to the rest of my community. That cultural connection helped deepen my interest in sports storytelling and the role media plays in sharing those moments with audiences. At the University of Hartford, I continue building this passion through my work on STN Channel 2 News, where I serve as an Assistant Producer, videographer, and sports anchor. In these roles, I coordinate segments, support the production process behind the scenes, and highlight sports stories happening across campus. As a videographer, I capture footage and help visually tell the stories of student-athletes and athletic events, while as a sports anchor I have the opportunity to present those stories directly to our audience. These positions give me valuable hands-on experience in both the technical and on-air sides of broadcasting while allowing me to work closely with a team of students who share the same passion for media production. I am particularly passionate about the technical and collaborative aspects of the field. Operating cameras, producing segments, and reporting on sports allows me to combine creativity with technical skill while continuing to grow as a storyteller. What excites me the most about sports broadcasting is the opportunity to capture and share moments that matter to athletes, fans, and communities. Every game tells a story, and every story brings together a community. Being part of the team responsible for capturing those moments and delivering them to an audience in real time is incredibly meaningful to me. My goal is to contribute to broadcasts that capture not only the action of the game but also the emotion and stories behind it. I want to help create media that allows audiences to feel connected to the athletes, the teams, and the moments that make sports so powerful.
