Currently, I am a Behavior Interventionist working for Easter Seals of Southern California Autism Services. I want to pursue my education further in order to expand in my field or to pursue my dream of becoming an Art Therapist. I have an associates in Fine Arts, already. I pursued a Bachelors in Art opt in Animation but unfortunately was not able to complete my last semester when my dad had passed away. I'm now currently seeking to return to complete that degree and begin an online course in pursuit of a Bachelors in Psychology. I believe I should be considered and picked for scholarships because of my goal and contributions to better my community within my work. I feel pursuing my education further would help me make a difference in so many more lives. I am a dog lover.

My academic journey began from an amazing counselor back in high school who helped me register and get into a community college right after high school. I didn't really know what I was doing or what I wanted to pursue, so I just took general ed and courses I really enjoyed (Art or Music). I accidentally earned my Fine Arts degree this was! Then got right into pursuing transfer courses to be admitted into CSULA for Art option in Animation. Honestly, I went for animation because I love art and cartoons. My mother passed away when I was 4 years old from breast cancer, and she grew up in a third world country (Costa Rica) so she absolutely adored cartoons and I felt a deep connection to it. The courses weren't what I had expected, I was interested in more of the traditional way of animation and everything was digital due to the advances in technology we've had. I stuck with it anyway and enjoyed it for the most part. My last semester my dads health declined drastically. He was admitted to the hospital a month into my last semester before graduation from congestive heart failure and passed away before my semester ended. I dropped out of school because of this. It's been about 4 years sense then and I feel ready to go back into school, however, it seems the biggest road block that I'm facing is the ability to pay for school. I decided to go back for a bachelors in psychology at Capella, which is a online school I discovered through my work as a Behavior Interventionist for Autism Services at my company ESSC. I've read a lot of articles and books in relation to the research and developmental psychology of children, and has shaped my interests in psychology. I've also read a lot of research studies about Autism and ADHD and feel that I might even be undiagnosed for ADHD. Medical history would be on my side for a proper diagnosis due to my mother and sister both clinically being diagnosed. Despite any challenges I may have faced in my life, I feel that I can still contribute good into the world and expand in the field I'm already apart of.
