Bio

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." -Eleanor Roosevelt. Hello, my name is Linnea. I am a high school senior committed to attend Cedarville University fall of 2025 where I plan to double major in Marketing and English. My career goals include becoming a bestselling novelist and a professor in creative writing. I yearn to impact the world positively through creativity, ambition, imagination, and authenticity. I want to ensure that modern times do not get in the way of passionate writers. Technology is constantly advancing and while many deem this a positive, technology has negatively impacted the writing world. As a writer, I feel called to stand up against the changes in the sphere of writing. When I consider what it means to write authentically it includes writing from ideas created from experience, not an AI generator. As I strive to inspire others, I hope I can equally take a stand for all writers to advocate for authentic writing. Ultimately, I hope that my writings will inspire others to follow their dreams through ambition and perseverance.

Inspiring Change Through the Power of Words Stories have always been my sanctuary. From a young age, I found myself captivated by the way words could create entire worlds, evoke emotions, and connect people across different experiences. As I grew older, I realized that creative writing wasn’t just a passion—it was a calling. My dream is to become an author, using my writing to inspire, challenge, and uplift others while shedding light on the complexities of the human experience. Writing has always been my way of processing the world around me. Growing up, I would spend hours filling notebooks with characters, poems, and stories. These weren’t just exercises in imagination—they were my way of exploring emotions and understanding people. Writing taught me empathy, as it required me to step into the shoes of others and view the world from different perspectives. It’s this transformative power of storytelling that inspires me to pursue creative writing as a career. As an author, I hope to create stories that resonate deeply with readers and spark meaningful conversations. My goal is to explore themes such as identity, resilience, and hope—topics that are often overlooked but have the potential to connect us on a profound level. I want my writing to give a voice to those who feel unheard and to provide comfort to anyone searching for understanding and belonging. One of the ways I plan to make a positive impact through my writing is by addressing social issues in a way that fosters empathy and action. Whether through novels, essays, or poetry, I want my words to serve as a catalyst for change. I believe that storytelling has the power to humanize difficult topics, breaking down barriers and encouraging people to see the world through someone else’s eyes. In addition to creating my own works, I want to use my skills to mentor and inspire young writers. I envision hosting workshops, working with underserved communities, and creating spaces where aspiring writers can share their stories and discover their voices. Writing can be a powerful tool for self-expression and healing, and I want to ensure that others have access to the same creative outlet that has been so transformative in my life. The path to becoming an author is not without challenges, but I am committed to pursuing this dream with dedication and purpose. Every story I write is an opportunity to make a difference, whether by offering comfort, sparking joy, or inspiring change. In a world often marked by division and misunderstanding, I believe that stories have the power to bridge gaps and remind us of our shared humanity. Through my creative writing, I hope to leave a lasting impact, one word at a time. This scholarship will bring me closer to achieving that dream, equipping me with the tools and opportunities I need to turn my passion into a career that uplifts and inspires.

A WISHFUL PERSPECTIVE ~Every perspective has a story just as every story has a perspective. Every living person will at one time or another wonder how the life of another is. We all wonder what it would be like to be our friend whose life seems so perfect. We all wish we were famous; we wish we were rich----we somehow always wish we were everyone but ourselves. Having a wishful perspective is personal. We keep these comparing thoughts bottled up inside, a constant force pushing us to be better, to do better, to be the best. A constant force that brings us down and that fills our hearts with lies. As human beings, we forget the fact that our lives are reflected in the same way. To many around us, our lives are perfect, our lives are beautiful, and we seem so worthy. Looking in from the inside is faulty, yet looking in from the outside is beautiful. A flower does not worry about its faults so why do we, humans, look at ourselves and find numerous faults, and yet, we look at others and only allow ourselves to see their beauty? Everyone has faults. Everyone has secrets. Breaking free from the constant wishful perspective of comparison can be hard, the road is long, but on the way, the truth will set you free.~ Not As the Flower - She does not see herself as the flower. She does not see herself as beautiful or pretty. She does not reflect on the sun, her ebullient thoughts. She does not try to overcome her past, rather she stays in it. Buried in the ground, the future seems too far away. The clouds wisp away just as her dreams. Buried with in her are these things. Shadowed Life - The life of a shadow makes everything look easy. The shadow just follows like a kitten to its mother. There is no cure that the shadow can bring. Instead, the shadow is a toxic reflection of what we wish we were being. No faults can be found in the shadow, no scars, no tears. Perfection is the reflection the perspective decides to bring. Peach Blossoms – Coffee in hand, peach blossoms, and a sun-kissed tan. A Saturday morning and all is grand. No worried thoughts about what the day must bring, the beautiful perspective makes me want to sing. Many people miss the days when there was no care in the world. Make a day to do nothing, to enjoy the day like the peach blossoms. Be pretty, and in the wind wisp away. Camera Eyes – The camera’s eyes capture a perfect moment stopping time in its tracks. The bee loses its buzz, the smile is forever on the girl, and the clouds are painted onto the sky. The time stays forever perfect and unforgettably fine. Spicy Mustard – She’ll forever have the tang stuck in her mouth, of spicy mustard, a special sauce in Chinese cuisine. Rice, foo young, and a few fortune cookies leave her waiting for the love she was promised. Straw rappers tossed aside, a big sip of water and she is somehow a bride. Life is too short to not try the spicy mustard with a positive perspective.
