Bold Financial Freedom Scholarship
"Budgeting can save your life." Someone once told me this and really explained it to me to help me fully understand how budgeting can really help you in the long run. In an effort to live a more financially sustainable life. Ensuring you cover all the bases you have for things you need to pay and working your way down to things that can be considered "luxuries". It is so important to understand where you money is going and how much you're spending so you don't go over your means. I as a college student will take this advice and use it to the best of my abilities to make sure I am living the best way I can financially.

When the time came for me to decide a way that I could volunteer and give to my community I spent a lot of time researching what I wanted to do. I knew I needed to try and find something that I already had knowledge on. Maybe some kind of outlet that could help on the path of figuring out what I wanted my future career to be. I've spent a majority of my summers at the pool, as a member of the swim team and as a lifeguard. A majority of my free time in the summers was dedicated to being at a pool, with swim practices and also as a lifeguard. Knowing that I would be there so often, I decided to ask my swim coach if I could volunteer to help with our younger kids' swim practice.
Most mornings I would wake up extra early over the summer to do my part in helping the younger kids grow as swimmers and individuals. Walking onto the deck and seeing their smiling eager faces ready to learn made me so ecstatic. Swimming is no easy sport and it can be difficult to learn the necessary fundamentals. Many of the kids would look at me frustrated that they could not fully grasp a certain technique. It was my responsibility to not only help them learn, but motivate them to keep going and not give up. Kids are such innocent people, and need individuals in their lives to help them be the best people they can be. They are the next generation, being surrounded by positive influences can do so much for children. That's all I want, to make a positive impact on their lives. Seeing them react the way they do, and feel more confident in their abilities, caused me to want to go on and pursue something similar.
Nothing made me more overjoyed than one of the swimmers running up to me, thrilled when they finally were able to do a get their stroke technique right, or even dive into the pool without fear. Working with kids each day over the summer and watching them grow as individuals really helped me find what I was passionate about. After that summer I walked away confidently knowing I wanted to work in a career field where I could help kids in any way I could, become the best version of themselves. Finding a way to see if anything was truly worth my while was the push I needed to find a path that would suit my interests. I equally have a love for the subject of science, and have always considered it in some way for a career. I began to realize that work in the medical field could be a career path I would love. I have grown up all my life with a family that has worked in the medical field, from my mom to my cousins.
