Bio

It is my goal to serve the women of my small community. My 16 year career has been spent in women’s services. I started as a certified nursing assistant on the postpartum unit during nursing school. I became a registered nurse and continued working in the same unit. After one year in postpartum I transitioned to the labor and delivery unit. I am currently the assistant nurse manager of women’s services. I love the feel of a small community hospital and my goal is to bring my skills of being a nurse midwife to my community. The labor process is my passion! I spent my childhood summers watching the TLC show A Baby Story. With this scholarship, I will be able to continue my education.I am ambitious about achieving my goals to become a nurse midwife!

My name is Lindsay Stroud. I married my high school sweetheart and we have 2 beautiful children, Hadlee (12) and Hudson (9). I have dedicated my 16 year nursing career to women’s health. I knew as a young girl that I was called to help mothers deliver their babies. I spent many summers watching TLCs A Baby Story. My mother is also a registered nurse and my sister and I followed her foot steps. My identical twin sister and I are both labor and delivery nurses. We worked with the doctors that delivered us for about 8 years of our career. Our unit is very special to me! I started as a nursing assistant on the postpartum floor of my local hospital while I finished nursing school. I transitioned to the registered nurse role on the same unit once I graduated. After one year, I transferred to the labor and delivery unit where I am currently employed. I knew labor and delivery was my passion. I spent my senior year preceptorship in labor and delivery. I serve currently as the assistant nurse manager for women’s services. I still work bedside in labor and delivery when I’m needed. I miss being bedside and I am looking foward to more direct patient care in my future role. I have helped countless women in my small community and it brings me joy! I have helped deliver many of my friend’s children. It is my goal to bring midwife services back to my small community hospital. We had one midwife when I first started in labor and delivery and she had a huge impact on my labor and delivery career. We have been without midwife services for many years now and I’m taking on the challenge to change that! I have spoke with the chief of OB and CEO and they are both supportive of moving towards the midwife model. In my small community we have very high risk patients. I have learned to take care of the sickest pregnant women and I take each patient and her health challenges to heart! I also can relate to the women who unfortunately have to deliver their babies sleeping. I experienced loss with my first pregnancy at 21 weeks. I truly believe I went through that horrible time to make me a better nurse. To know how that feels personally has helped me in more ways than one to care for patients going through similar situations.
