Bio

I am currently a Senior majoring in kinesiology and minoring in nutrition in the College of Education, Health, and Society at Miami University Oxford, OH. I will be attending Duke University's Doctor Of Physical Therapy Program starting in the Fall of 2025. I have worked as a physical therapy aide for the last 4 years which has furthered my passion for helping others. I learned about proper patient interaction, collaborative teamwork, and neuromuscular modalities for healing. During my time at Miami University I have participated in undergraduate research, co-authored a research paper, presented at the MWACSM Research conference, and held a leadership position in my sorority.

From a very young age, I have always been considered the daredevil of my family. From my love of riding roller coasters, tumbling on the gymnastics floor, and skydiving, I am always pushing my boundaries to experience everything available to me. Unfortunately, my daredevil personality brought a fair share of injuries. Going through the challenges of physical therapy myself several times, I became fascinated by the science of movement, my anatomy, and how to correct injury through rehabilitation. Growing up with a father in medicine, science has always been a big part of my life and captivated my interest. I knew I wanted to enter a field that would help others become stronger and be able to tap into a better version of themselves. When I started working as a PT aide at Sports and Spine Physical Therapy in Cleveland, I knew I had picked the right profession. I found my true calling and love to connect with the other patients and educate them on all the ways to improve their pain as well as their overall health/well being. There is no greater reward than seeing an individual, who was initially disabled, achieve their goal of getting back to their baseline functionality. Sometimes the patient will even go beyond themselves in their efforts to correct a problem taking to heart the ideals of physical therapy with some encouragement, of course. I want to bring the new technologies in the field, such as electrical stimulation therapy, to underserved populations. I want to provide innovative ways to anyone and everyone who needs help. I am excited to be a part of this amazing field where there are no boundaries to expand and contribute to the field. My enthusiasm, determination, open mindedness, and desire to push the limits of patient care are all traits I will exemplify in the profession of physical therapy. I am willing to jump in any time when there is an opportunity for further advancement of knowledge and skill, but, also, I will listen to patients to garner their trust and respect for what physical therapy can do for them in their lives. I am strongly committed to providing the best care possible to my patients. There is nothing more rewarding or satisfying to me than making a difference in someone’s life by helping them improve their quality of life. In conclusion, my flexible thinking, collaborative spirit, and ability to adapt to challenging situations will serve me well as a physical therapist. The lessons and experiences I garner in the DPT Program at Duke University will pave the way for inclusivity and equitability in my future physical therapy practice. My true contribution to the profession of physical therapy will be my compassion for others and the privilege to play a role in making someone’s life better than when they came to me.
