    1989 (Taylor's Version) Fan Scholarship
Title: Breaking the Generational Symphony: A Tale of Resilience and Aspiration. Introduction: In the melodic tapestry of my life, the echoes of 1989 (Taylor's Version) resonate deeply with the symphony of resilience, ambition, and unwavering determination. Against the backdrop of adversity and limited resources, each song becomes a rallying cry in my quest to break the generational curse of poverty and forge a new legacy of success and prosperity. Verse 1: "Shake It Off" Born into a low-income family, the strains of "Shake It Off" become my anthem of resilience as I navigate the delicate balance of full-time work and full-time education. Witnessing my mother toil tirelessly in multiple jobs to make ends meet, I am determined to shake off the limitations imposed by circumstance and chart a course towards a brighter future. This song serves as a reminder that setbacks are temporary, but the strength within me is enduring. Verse 2: "Blank Space" With each stride towards my aspirations, "Blank Space" embodies the spirit of embracing the unknown and carving my own path. As I embark on my second internship with General Motors in the business management sector, I am acutely aware of the blank spaces waiting to be filled with innovation, leadership, and determination. Breaking free from the confines of generational expectations, I embrace the opportunity to redefine success on my own terms. Verse 3: "Wildest Dreams" From earning my associate's degree in Information Technology to pursuing a bachelor's degree in Science and Technology, "Wildest Dreams" embodies the audacity to dream beyond the confines of circumstance. As a first-generation college graduate, I am driven by the belief that my wildest dreams are within reach, waiting to be realized through hard work and perseverance. This song serves as a testament to the power of ambition in transcending barriers and reshaping destinies. Verse 4: "Style" In the face of adversity, "Style" celebrates the journey of self-discovery and empowerment as I defy the odds to break free from the cycle of poverty. From humble beginnings, I embrace my unique identity and sense of style, refusing to be defined by the limitations of my upbringing. This song becomes a tribute to the courage it takes to forge a new path, guided by authenticity and determination, and to inspire others to do the same. Verse 5: "Clean" Reflecting on the echoes of my past, "Clean" offers solace and closure amidst the trials and tribulations of my journey. With each setback and failure, I emerge stronger and more resilient, shedding the weight of generational expectations and embracing the opportunity for growth. This song serves as a reminder that breaking free from the shackles of the past is not only possible but necessary in reclaiming my destiny and shaping a future filled with promise and possibility. Conclusion: As the chords of 1989 (Taylor's Version) fade into the symphony of my journey, I am reminded of the resilience, ambition, and unwavering determination that define my quest to break the generational curse of poverty. From humble beginnings to audacious dreams, each song serves as a testament to the indomitable spirit within me and the promise of a brighter tomorrow. As I continue to compose the soundtrack of my life, I am determined to leave behind a legacy of resilience, aspiration, and empowerment, breaking free from the echoes of the past to create a symphony of success and prosperity for generations to come.

This personal history has fueled my desire to not only attain a Bachelor of Science degree but also to demonstrate to my family, friends, and anyone who faces adversity that dreams can indeed become a reality. I am 26 years old, and my academic path has been marked by challenges that have extended my time to completion. Science Fiction Becomes Science Fact Scholarship
I am deeply honored to apply for the Sharp Objects scholarship, which aims to support low-income students pursuing their dreams in the fields of STEM and medicine. This opportunity aligns perfectly with my passion for information technology and my aspiration to contribute to turning science fiction into science fact. Information Technology (IT) is a field that has already been instrumental in bridging the gap between science fiction and reality. It has transformed the way we live, work, and interact, bringing technological marvels once thought to be fictional into our everyday lives. However, the potential of IT to turn more science fiction concepts into reality is boundless. One of the most promising areas where IT can accomplish this transformation is Artificial Intelligence (AI). The idea of machines with human-like intelligence, often portrayed in science fiction, is becoming increasingly plausible thanks to advances in AI. As a student in the field of IT, I am eager to contribute to the development of AI systems that can revolutionize industries like healthcare, transportation, and education. For instance, AI-driven medical diagnostics can enhance early disease detection, leading to more effective treatments and improved patient outcomes. In the realm of transportation, self-driving cars powered by AI have the potential to make our roads safer and reduce traffic congestion. In education, AI-driven personalized learning platforms can cater to individual student needs, making education more accessible and effective. Moreover, IT can facilitate breakthroughs in fields such as quantum computing, virtual reality, and data science, pushing the boundaries of what was once considered science fiction. Quantum computing, for example, has the potential to solve complex problems at speeds unimaginable with classical computers, opening doors to innovations in materials science, cryptography, and more. In my pursuit of a degree in Information Technology, I am committed to gaining the knowledge and skills necessary to be at the forefront of these transformative technologies. I aspire to not only witness but actively contribute to the realization of science fiction concepts in the realms of AI, cybersecurity, quantum computing, and beyond. In conclusion, my selected field of study, Information Technology, is a catalyst for turning science fiction into science fact. It has the power to bring about innovations and advancements that can reshape our world in ways previously thought impossible. With the support of the Sharp Objects scholarship, I am eager to continue my education and contribute to the exciting journey of making science fiction a tangible reality for the benefit of society and the world at large.

    “Stranger Things” Fanatic Scholarship
This is a surprising question, I’ve never been asked this before, but if I were to form a squad with three characters from "Stranger Things" to confront a new supernatural threat, I would choose Eleven, Chief Hopper, and Dustin Henderson. Eleven possesses telekinetic and telepathic abilities, making her a formidable force against supernatural threats. Her strength and determination are crucial assets, and her experience in dealing with the Upside Down and various supernatural phenomena would be invaluable. Chief Hopper's no-nonsense attitude, resourcefulness, and experience as Hawkins' chief of police make him an excellent leader for the team. His willingness to go to great lengths to protect those he cares about and his combat skills would be vital in facing any new threat. Dustin Henderson, with his intelligence, technological know-how, and ability to communicate with otherworldly creatures (such as Dart), could provide essential insights and solutions when dealing with a mysterious supernatural adversary. His humor and optimism would also help keep the team's spirits up in challenging situations. Together, this trio would offer a combination of raw power, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of the supernatural, making them a well-rounded and effective squad to tackle any new menace from the Upside Down or beyond.

If you look up the definition of legacy you’ll probably find something similar to this, “the long-lasting impact of particular events, actions, etc. That took place in the past, or of a person's life,” stated Google. It’s a good definition, but not particularly how I define a legacy. If I follow the legacy of my mother it would be to not finish college and to work multiple jobs to support herself and two children, mostly on her own. This will not be my legacy, but what my legacy will be is to change the predetermined outlook on my life, coming from a low-income African-American family. It is not to be determined by past events like the definition says or like like my mother but to be determined by my future actions plus my current actions and to take the hard-working traits of my mother and become a woman ten times better than my mother is because that’s what she raise me to be. Coming from a low-income family and supporting myself on my own since I was nineteen shows me anything is possible. I am now 26 years old with an associate's degree in Information Technology Applied Science. Also, I’m currently working on my bachelor's in Information Technology at Walsh College with a 3.4 GPA. These are two things I never thought I could do but did it and doing it. For a while, I was discouraged about my future because of my continuous academic struggle in school with a 2.5 or lower GPA and afraid to apply myself due to abandonment issues and not wanting to open up because of an absent father and a mother that works so much to provide, but I barely got to see. Evolving into adulthood and finding God help me reshape my life. Doing this gave me the courage to reach for the stars and when I reach the stars, keep reaching for more. On my mother's side, I am the second person to receive a degree and the first that will receive a bachelor's degree. I give my all to school to make my family proud and to show them dreams can come true with hard work and dedication. My mom is my world, she raised me as a single parent most of my life, so I take having on a work ethic that I can make the extraordinary seem possible. As well as breaking a repetitive cycle and a generational curse in my family of living check to check with no aspirations because of being boggled about making ends meet. I am already breaking generational curses and thriving as a young African-American woman who is currently interning in General Motors' corporate-level position for the GMSC Program. I’m not going to stop growing, learning, and using my education to bring my family/community out of poverty. Doing this will be my legacy.

To tell you about myself I have to tell you about my love of technology and changing the world. Technology brings joy to my life as no other source can. It helps model today’s world with innovative techniques, and that’s just something I want to be a part of. I have always wondered how things worked and what could I do to improve the society around me, at least from a technological lens. Computer science is my way into this ever-changing modern-day world. I know pursuing a degree in computer science can take me places one could only dream to be a part of as well as educationally, teaching me something new every day within my career. Also, computer science can help me find crucial ways to advance the world around me. I will be starting an internship at General Motors Company that is related to my field of study. Being a part of this internship brings me one step closer to helping transform the world of computer science in a positively impactful way. I want to work at one of the Big 3 motor companies (Ford, Chrysler, and General Motors) to be a part of tomorrow's future and help give a helping hand in Artificial intelligence creations, technological reshaping, leading, learning, and more. The more I research these companies, it leads me to the idea that I can flourish while improving the landscape of women, particularly African American women, working in tech. Earning a scholarship would improve my life tremendously. It will help me complete a goal I have had since graduating high school. Completing my bachelor's isn't just big for me educationally and career-wise, but it will mean a lot to my family. On my mother's side, I would be the second person to receive a degree and the first to receive a bachelor's degree in computer science. I have not been as fortunate as other students. Financially, I only depend on my part-time job, I have no other sources of income, and family members can’t afford to help. I need this scholarship, otherwise, loans will be my only option. These are the reason why I consider myself one of the best candidates for receiving this scholarship In addition, my community involvement is through Pure Holiness Church, we use prayer and worship to God to bring people closer from all backgrounds of life. When needed, we give to the less fortunate, rather that’s with food or through the word of God. Getting this scholarship will change my life and get me one step closer to my bachelor's degree and dream career.
