Bio
Hi! My name is Lily Thompson and I'm a senior at Tuttle High School. I strive for academic excellence and I work hard for my grades. I try my best to be a good role model for my peers and everyone around me. I treat people with love and respect. It's important to me that people know that I am there for them. I am a baton twirler; I've twirled for 13 years and I've been blessed to twirl for the Tiger Pride marching band my entire high school career. My favorite experience has been twirling on the football field with the marching band. It's been an amazing experience and I am very blessed that I get to continue this in college. I have been accepted into Oklahoma Baptist University, where I will be the feature twirler. Another hobby of mine is reading. I love to read fictional books. Furthermore, I've been studying Spanish since the Fall of 2020. I love it and I want to continue acquiring this wonderful language. I have enrolled in Spanish IV and AP Spanish for my last year of high school. I've always loved kids and I have a passion for teaching them. I plan on going to college to pursue a degree in English education. Being bilingual is going to help me be a better teacher upon graduating.
My goal is to be able to give my students a quality education, and I want to provide a classroom environment that makes them feel loved and valued. I want to make a difference.

Bold Bravery Scholarship
Courage is the "ability to do something that frightens one". I used to believe that being courageous meant you were never scared. When I thought of courage I imagined knights in shining armor, rushing into battle and slaying their foes without hesitation or failing. I would beat myself up when I allowed myself to be intimidated by daunting tasks in my life. My life changed when I realized this lie I'd been believing. The realization that it's okay to be afraid gave me courage. I now know that growth requires leaving your comfort zone.
Today I practice bravery by choosing not to be like everyone else. It is easy to be a follower in today's culture, but I don't want to be so easily influenced. I am a Christian, and it's not always easy to live out my faith, especially as a high school student. I know that my values and beliefs are going to make me stand out. In order to be successful, I have to be strong in my faith and confident in my identity in Christ. I know that being who I am means that I will be judged. I will be laughed at. I will be ridiculed for what I do and what I do not do. I still struggle with the fear of what other people think of me, but I'm learning that I don't have to let the opinions of others define me. I want to continue to live boldly, even if it means being different.
