Hi! I'm Lily, an International Studies major attending George Mason University who's passionate about finding solutions to global issues to aid people around the world. Growing up in a diverse family has taught me compassion and respect for others. With this, I strive for a future career where I can influence decisions for positive, equal and proactive change.
I love traveling! Before, college I never traveled outside of the United States. Despite never traveling alone before, traveling abroad has allowed me to learn about myself while also expanding my view and knowledge of other cultures and ideologies. I have traveled to numerous countries including Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, and France. Highlights of my study abroad experiences have been speaking with political activist, lawyers, educators, ministers and politicians from around the world while also visiting organizations like the United Nations, the World Trade Organization, the European Parliament, Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the European Court of Human Rights. Four years ago I used to watch the news and read articles wishing I could make a change for the better. Four years later I have spoke with world leaders on how to create global change.
Given my determination throughout the years to follow my dreams, reach my goals, step outside my comfort zones, and challenge myself, I believe I am a good candidate for scholarships. I strive every day to expand my knowledge of the world and to be a global citizen who is passionate about world peace, equality, and social justice.
