    Mikey Taylor Memorial Scholarship
Throughout my life I have struggled with anxiety and depression. I have struggled since I was about twelve years old. I did not communicate my illness to my family because I felt like I was a burden. However, since growing older and realizing a lot of people struggle in the same way I do. Through this I have learned that it is not a bad thing to ask for help when you need it. My pets have been a great support and I realized how special our pets are to us. This helped further my desire to study veterinary medicine in the future. Because of my struggles with mental health, I have trouble building relationships with people. This has made is hard for me to feel supported. The fact that I have little control over if I can pay for my college tuition makes it very hard for me to continue. I keep applying for scholarships in order to potentially relieve that stress. During Covid, I fell into a bad depression and did not do well in my classes. This caused my GPA to drop. I had been awarded scholarships that were GPA based, so I lost them. When this happened, I felt even worse. I wanted to quite because I felt like a failure. However, I have been in therapy to help with better coping skills and working hard to bring my GPA back up. I have raised my GPA by almost a full point, and I hope to continue to raise it. I have also retaken all the classes I did badly in and did much better. I have been very happy with my progress, but now I am struggling to figure out how to fund my classes this semester. I have already taken out many loans, but I still have over ten thousand I need to get together. If students do not pay their balance, then they will not be able to register for the next semester. Being awarded with this scholarship will help to increase my ability to continue classes. Being able to help animals like they helped me during my worse times, is my dream. I want to help animals, so that they can continue to help their owners. If I am unable to continue pursing this, I would be heartbroken. I have been working vert hard to get back on track, receiving this scholarship would definitely help keep me there. Thank you so much for considering me.
