Moss Family Scholarship
Hello, my name is Lily Jane Musgrove and I would like to be considered for the Moss Family Scholarship.
This scholarship would be a blessing as I will be the first of my immediate family to be heading to college. I come from a single mother home as my biological father left us not long after my birth. My Mother has always been able to look after us and to make sure I had whatever I needed but then in 2019 our life took a major hit when a tornado outbreak left our home destroyed. With Gods grace and mercy thankfully we were not at home.
Following the tornado we had to move into my Grandmothers house, who at the time was in ICU. Unfortunately a month later we lost my Grandmother. We were left with her house and a mountain of debt. My Mother started to work 2-3 jobs to make sure we had everything we needed and when I came of age I made sure to find something that fit my school schedule and went to work as well to help in whatever way I could.
I know college will be a financial burden for my Mother and I would love to help in whatever way I can to eliminate that stress.
My goal has always been to become a Criminal Investigator and my dream is to attend University of Southern Mississippi and receive a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Investigation. Once I succeed in that I would then apply to the FBI academy in Virginia.
I am currently going into my senior year and am working hard trying to make my dreams come true. I am in our Biomedical Science Academy and serve as Ambassador. I am in the schools leadership program and in the National Honor Society. I will be also starting the year out as my schools Majorette Captain.
I have been a twirler for the last four years, starting with a private company then landing on the schools team. I am passionate about baton and love working on my skill, always trying to improve. Once I get accepted into Southern Miss, my plan is to try out for feature twirler in the Pride of Mississippi Band next Spring.
With my role at our school, we are also encouraged to volunteer in our community. For the past two years I have regularly volunteered with our local ASPCA and Ronald McDonald House. Helping others is something I have always loved to do and will continue to do so in my future.
I currently work a part time job as an evening daycare teacher and am saving up for my future education a little at a time. With the help of generous scholarships such as this, I have no doubt that my dreams will come true!
Thank you for your consideration.
