Bio

Some of my life goals are to be a leader to those around me, manage my own business, and expand my knowledge and curiosity of the cosmetology industry. I am passionate about learning new ways to advance my skills in the cosmetology. Being able to learn new ways of doing styles, cuts, or color techniques never fails to come in handy. Having knowledge of different techniques can be of use to me when I am helping future clients, co-workers, or not having the proper tools and supplies I would need. I believe I am a great candidate because I will strengthen my education and push the boundaries of my skills for my future cosmetology career.

My passion for cosmetology really started the moment I started cutting and coloring my doll’s hair. Even as a little girl I was drawn to changing my dolls hair and makeup. As I entered elementary school, I often did my own hair including cutting it several times myself. As I continued to grow, my older sister would often find me in her makeup. By the time I was in junior high, I really started styling my own hair and practicing makeup techniques. In my free time I watched hours of videos of how to do makeup. Learning about how to blend, contour, apply different eyeshadow combinations, and how to use makeup brushes and tools. Ulta quickly became my favorite store. Once I became a freshman in high school, I learned about the possibility of attending our local career center to study hair and cosmetology as a junior and senior. This opportunity quickly became a goal of mine. I fell even more in love with the industry after being able to attend Kankakee Area Career Center to pursue cosmetology. The program requires a lot of time and dedication to learn the skills and techniques. My time has been consumed by classroom instruction and attending salon hours to learn all that I can. Through the salon I have really enjoyed working with people to help them look their best. My instructors are very particular, ensuring that I learn the skills and can perform them well. Their dedication to this field and training has encouraged me to pursue cosmetology and barbering as my livelihood. It is very important to me to stay focused, to earn my hours, to complete my state licensure. My future plans after Kankakee Area Career Center, are to attend Paul Mitchell Beauty School to earn my cosmetology license. I am looking forward to fine-tuning my skills. After that, I plan to attend Phipps Barber School to earn my barber license. I intend to make a difference in the world by assisting people in feeling more confident and comfortable with how they look and feel. I believe I can make someone feel better by providing the best service and treatment possible. Making a change in an individual’s life is something I desire to do on a daily basis. I would like to share my generosity and skills with future clients and colleagues. Long term goals include following in my grandpa’s footsteps and opening my own shop someday. I have admired watching him cut hair for years. Just this past year he gifted me with an antique razor he used in his barber school days. At that moment my fate was sealed.
