While my educational background is interdisciplinary and in some ways unusual, my liberal arts background and a good deal of exploration before I chose my majors allowed me to formulate the mission statement that has come to define me: Learn to the depths, love to the depths, and set the depths alight so all else can see the wisdom and the beauty I have found there. In short, I am passionate about education, both in terms of facilitating and guiding the education of others and continuing my own. In college, I exalted in the opportunity both sink my teeth into a variety of disciplines and in travel abroad. Travelling allowed me to about the past, are, literature, architecture, and history of other cultures. Since graduating, I have worked as a high school English teacher. While I enjoy many aspects of teaching, what I want most is to continue my own education. My ultimate goal at this time is to complete a PhD in English literature, focusing on Medieval texts, and find a position as a college professor at a small, teaching-oriented college such as the one that made me who I am today. Ideally, I'd like to go to England to pursue my graduate education: there, I'd have better access to the physical and linguistic remains of the historical peoples I wish to study. I have found a great deal--an immeasurable, incalculable amount--of wisdom and beauty in literature. I want not only to explore for myself, but to share it and equip others with the skills necessary to explore it for themselves.
