Bio

Ambitious Rising Sophomore in New York, New York, with aspirations to become an international Lawyer. I want to travel around the world defending those who need me while still living a life where I’m not kept in a box. I even see myself starting my own law firm for those lawyers who want help breaking into this career or even just the opportunity to have a career in law that will provide balance. I found my love for math ever since I was assigned the back of scholastic news articles for homework, and actually wanted to do them even if it wasn’t assigned. My passion in law sprouted from watching Law & Order: SVU and seeing myself in these “professional arguments.” I understand it’s not easy to become a lawyer and to actually live the life of a lawyer. I am worried for the obstacles I may have whether it’s my post secondary plan, or my life as a lawyer. However, if I’m able to fight for what I want, I will be who I know I can be. I’ll fight for it. Being able to hold someone you care about the most is something many can not do. I understand what it’s like to experience a kind of pain that will forever change the way you view life. I want to be the person who can support, defend, and protect those who became victims to this certain pain. Being a lawyer is not an easy job emotionally, physically, or mentally. However, if I have the opportunity to put my foot down for those who need a little help, I will. Some believe lawyers help individually, but with their support for just one person, everyone around can build courage to speak up. My main focus as a lawyer is to defend those who fell victim to a crime related to violence. So no matter the kind of victim, I want to be the reason others build courage to take the first step towards justice. My grandmother is someone you can never see in another person. She has the strongest courage, emotional strength, willpower, and love. I went through a very traumatizing situation and I have never in my life felt that loneliness again once she took me in and held me. She has taught me things most haven’t had to relearn. She has the patience, the love, the care, and the awareness that many people don’t have. My grandmother wore her superhero mask to cover her hardships so I never had a reason to worry. Her cape was the blanket she took off her body to warm me when I was cold. Heroes save, heroes protect, my grandmother is my hero.

Sticks and stones will always break my bones, and words most definitely hurt me. However, what if I use the risk of listening to these hurtful words and harmful attacks to my advantage? Surrounded by decisions that may have an effect on my own security is simply risky in itself. Whether it’s from my own family members or past teachers that described my work as a student with insults. However, can risk be described as the hard decision to keep listening to to your hateful environment? Well to me, it’s one of my favorite risks. I taught myself to thrive when there was no one to thrive for but myself. Growing up my mother always told me to never let people bring me down. However, we all know it’s easier said than done. Sadly, I let those words get to me and I grew up having a hard time with confidence in not only my person, but my dreams as well. Yet, I was able to use that to grow and learn. Thankfully, I had experienced some teachers that didn’t believe in me whatsoever. They used my anxiety as a way to make me seem like my skill in public speaking would never improve and there was no way I would be a lawyer. Why do I say thankfully? I realized that I have to be courageous for myself. My risk was teaching myself to thrive. Even though I was told to back down when I was around those with the least encouraging words, I refused. I must encourage myself to adapt and thrive in an environment even when it’s the least encouraging. With courage comes risk.

Losing someone to the effects of mental illness is not easy, and a lot of us have experienced that before. Many teens and adults living with mental illness have experienced their struggles being pushed off to the side. They are ignorantly told that they are being “moody.” This is why it’s important to have the proper education and resources for sensitive topics like mental health. There aren’t many practical solutions for those with mental health due to lack of accessibility. Which ones are sustainable and actually ready to use for those who need a little more help and patience? One practical solution is something that can be done from anywhere and by anyone. A healthy coping mechanism. It can be a process to find something that helps and is safe. However, we must remember, this is what makes it practical. Practical doesn’t just represent easy and useful. A practical solution is also sustainable and accessible. This is why having your own coping mechanism is great for those struggling with mental illness as it’s personalized to your needs. Coping mechanisms aren’t just finding some hobbies. They can be anything you want as long as it’s safe. For example, when my anxiety gets really bad, I like to tap every finger with my thumb using one hand. This grounds me and keeps me aware of what’s happening around me. This keeps my brain running at a healthy pace so I’m not overwhelmed by thoughts or emotions. Sometimes we just have to sit back and tap, and that’s okay. It’s personalized to your own needs. We have to remember that sometimes these things are harder to find and to do when struggling with mental illness. This is why finding a healthy coping mechanism can help more people struggling with mental health.

The first president was the Karate Kid and I must support his legacy in Sesame Street. Also I need money to find that extra pinky. Me personally, I wouldn’t take this level of disrespect. That’s just me though. I want to be a professional sneezer and bed warmer when I grow up. I know this requires a degree at Harvard so I have to really ahdusifnwj sorry I just sneezed. I know this requires a degree at Harvard. So scholarships are important to me as I need to get enough money for tissues and Big Bird. Having beef with that teacher Ms.Garcia that turned my 83 on an essay to a 60 cause I recorded her calling my work “crap.” Had a lot to say to the press huh, Miley what’s good? Run me my 20 points back.

The lack of emotional intelligence and awareness found in society continues to prove why change fails to come. A change needed is people taking the initiative to make what they want actually happen. We put so much pressure on getting change for issues that continue to reoccur. However, we are the ones to look around at others and point fingers. We fail to realize that as individuals who want this change, we have to be the example on how to bring the change. Whether this is through attention or bringing the resources to actually obtain the change, it has to start with who wants it. However, most people will hear these words on social media, agree through the comments, point fingers, then scroll onto the next post. I choose to start it through speaking up and being aware.
