Growing up in small town, Mechanicsburg has made me proud to be an American. The culture our country has when it comes to agriculture and farming speaks very well for itself. I have grown up and been an active member in 4H since I was nine. I started with showing a dairy heifer, then Broadened my horizon to breeding sheep. I was also the dairy ambassador for two years representing my county. 4H has made me proud to be an American because of the life lessons you learn and come to appreciate as you get older that not many people get to experience. For example, the freedom We get to practice every day to be able to try new things And the ability to help others try new things. I have traveled to other Third World countries and no, but they don’t get the freedom to do what we get to do when it comes to our agriculture community.
Not only does the agriculture community of America make me proud to be an American, but also the veteran community and the first responder community. Growing up, my grandpa would tell me stories from Vietnam and everything they had to go through and what they fought for which makes me proud to know that there is people out there that will fight so hard just for our safety, freedom, and rights. That alone makes me the proudest. Right now, I am an intern at Memorial physical therapy in Marysville, and I hear stories every day of men who fought in war for us, and who are still in rehab from the wars. Which also motivates me Into wanting to continue the career field of physical therapy to be able to help those men who still struggle today.
One thing I would like to see different about our country is the opportunity of FFA in all schools. While I live in Mechanicsburg, I go to Jonathan Alder, where we do not have the opportunity to be in an FFA class. Although I am A member of a 4-H club, Not many kids at my school have that opportunity. I think it’s important for my generation and the generations below me to be able to have exposure to agriculture because is the backbone of our country.
Besides FFA in schools, I think respect needs to be taught more in schools. More and more do we see every day people disrespecting our country when they choose to live here, because they didn’t grow up being taught how to respect others properly. I was raised with yes ma’am, no sir, manners And I think it’s sad that we don’t see more of that in today’s world. However, it’s not necessarily always the kids faults, It’s the lack of parenting and teaching in schools.
I would like to thank you for reading my application and your consideration for the scholarship anything will help me greatly with my future education.
