My name is Lexi Ingold. I am from Kosciusko Mississippi. I have always wanted to be in the medical field since I was younger. I have always loved helping people, and used to watch my mom help people out in the medical field. My mom, Chelsea, started off as a dispatcher, back then I never knew what that was. She decided to move forwards to become a nurse after being a dispatch for years. After nursing school, she went back to Medstat with my stepdad, Scott. She ended up getting her EMT licenses to work for them, and then went back to nursing school, while working as an EMT, to become a Registered Nurse. Scott has been working as a first responder since 2009, and he loves it. He was the one who got me interested in EMT school. I never really thought or understood what an EMT was until Scott came around. I was going to go to school to be a nurse like my mom, but I really didn't feel too passionate about being a nurse. That's when I met Raymond. He was my CPR instructor, but he talked to me about becoming an EMT. That night I went home, and sat down with my mom and talked to her more about it. She honestly loved the idea of me becoming an EMT. Scott was also pretty excited since he was one of the role models who showed me what working as a first responder looked like. I have had dreams all my life to be in the medical field, but I have never imagined this would have been the path I took. I am thankful to even have the opportunity to learn to grow and understand more about being a first responder. I am excited about this career path. I am hoping to eventually become a Paramedic in the near future, but you may never know what life may throw at you. I don't want to be a first responder for the money or benefits from it. I want to be a first responder to be able to help people, and to inspire younger people to look into EMT. Most people now don't ever get the inspiration I did growing up around people who were in the field. I honestly would have never gotten the idea of being a first responder if it wasn't for my mom meeting Scott. I would probably still be wanting to be a doctor or a nurse, but I am happy with everyone who led me to this career path, and I hope to enjoy it as much as I can.
