I read books daily.
My name is Leslye, and I am a proud first-generation college student pursuing a degree in Kinesiology. As a Mexican woman in STEM, I’m passionate about breaking barriers and paving the way for others like me to thrive in traditionally underrepresented fields. Coming from a low-income, single-parent household and as the child of immigrants, I’ve faced challenges that have shaped my resilience and ambition. I was accepted into a private university due to my high school honors and achievements and have since maintained academic excellence, earning a spot on the dean’s list. Outside of my studies, I enjoy yoga, meditation, reading, crafting, and embroidery, which help me stay grounded and express my creativity. I give back to my community by volunteering with the Association of Washington Student Leaders at their Latinx youth summer camp, where I mentor and work with young leaders to embrace their identities and strive for success in higher education . My goal is to contribute to the advancement of health sciences while fostering a life of balance, wellness, and empowerment for the next generation of women in STEM.
