As a first-generation college student, I have always been driven by a deep passion for justice and a commitment to making a positive impact in my community. Growing up, I witnessed the importance of fairness and the need for accountability, which fueled my desire to pursue a career as a crime investigator. I am currently in my senior year with the goal of specializing in criminal investigations to help solve complex cases and protect vulnerable communities.

Law enforcement agencies can improve relationships with the African American population by building trust through transparency and accountability.
Community policing initiatives, where officers engage with residents regularly, can provide positive connections. Providing classes on different social classes and cultures as well as understanding the concept may helps reduce discriminatory practices. Agencies should actively recruit and promote diverse officers who reflect the communities they serve for better interactions with the communities. Talking openly with community leaders to build on the connection can help solve problems together. Ensuring fair treatment and equal enforcement of laws helps rebuild trust.
However, rebuilding trust requires more than surface-level interactions. Law enforcement agencies must embrace full transformation that addresses the deep-seated historical that have fueled tension between police and communities of color for generations. To truly heal these slit up groups, law enforcement must not only reform its policies but also spread its role within society
These solutions involve interactions, gaining of knowledged based on cultural differences and backgrounds help improve the relationship with Law enforcement and African American. Furthermore you can add acountability, for example a law enforcement agencies should not be able to surpass the laws others cannot. This creates a sense of unequality and increase the separation between what feels like the community and what does. Many African Americans have stated and been shown to have experiences these inequalities unfortunately in person and when these law enforcement agents tend to get away with things it creates a stigma.
Not only should everyone be able to be held at the same equivalent consequences but should also be very public about the apologies to show that even law enforcement can make mistakes but there's always a way to make it right. This would definitely improve the interactions with one another and eventually create a population in the united states who can all appreciate and accept law enforcement as being a safe part of the community.
Another simpler but effective method is plan multiple meeting throughout the year to explain the importance of not being cultural biased and give presentations on how law enforcement agencies can better the work of these agents. This overall with suggestions from the community can have a major impact in the way the African American society would have a view on law enforcement agencies.
In conclusion providing different method to get a deeper understanding into their culture and beliefs may help calm down certain situations and decrease the negative stigma around law enforcement agencies and their interactions with African Americans society.

One of my experiences with mental health that influenced my beliefs, relationships, and career aspirations would have to be mastering the perfect balance of school and home relationships. More specifically not letting my parents rocky relationship affect my ability to work in school. My parents' relationship has always been unstable and some may identify as toxic. It impacted my mental health so much from elementary til high school because once I heard about other families I started to realized that my family wasn't necessarily the "normal" one. I witnessed 2 types of abuse that messed with my personal relationships like friends, boyfriends, and peers. I never learned the healthy version of maintaining any relationship. Due to that I lost so many important people in my life because of what I had witnessed. While people were unaware of what was occurring, I knew home was not emotionally safe. This took a toll on my academics in all my schooling years because at home there was always arguing or chaos happening in the background. On top of my homework or tests to study for, I learned to block out the noise. Imagine trying to focus on studying for a huge test that impacts your future, and your background is filled with loud yelling and things being said that could potentially change the course of your life. These countless nights or days of them arguing and having to be in the middle of it, made me realize I had to get out of my home because to me it was a burning house. School was the key to leaving the toxic environment I was in. I felt so selfish for the longest for feeling this type of way but I wasn't going to keep allowing this negative energy around me anymore. I changed my way of thinking. I realized that continuing to focus on my school was not selfish, it was an act of bravery. I love my parents but I will not allow myself to suffocate by the smoke of the burning house. I put all my efforts into school because that was my safety plan to save myself. I need to save myself before I can help my parents and as selfish as I used to think that was, I can now see it's an act of love. I love them enough to not let their sacrifices burn out within me but instead to keep going and pull out my full potential.
