My name is Leila De Folo, I am a first-generation college student, and I have always been very passionate about my studies. I am only 16 years old, but I am a senior in high school and a sophomore in college through the running start program. I enjoy getting involved in my school community and I serve as the Programming Chair of the Events and Advocacy Board at my college, which is the board that acts as the student government on campus. I have a very good work ethic that has helped me get a near perfect GPA and 2 grade levels ahead of the rest of my classmates. I have a variety of different awards and honors that range from excellence in academics, sports, and leadership. I am also very enthusiastic about public service. My extracurricular activities include being one of 6 students chosen to serve on the Budget Committee at my college, advocating through the Washington State Parks Youth Leadership Program for attractions to be built in Washington State Parks that would attract more teens, and acting in plays at my local acting studio for 3 years with the privilege of being the lead twice.
In college, I wish to pursue a career as an attorney by learning more about law and the role it plays in modern society. I understand that it will be expensive to pursue this career and I would be grateful for any financial assistance I might receive. I am passionate about this course of study because I wish to advocate for and help others with my career. My future goals in college are to work towards my career passion, refine my leadership skills, and make an impact in my community.

My future goals are rooted in my passion for law and love for my studies. I am only 16 years old, but I am a senior in high school and a first-generation college student (sophomore) through the running start program. I have gotten to where I am today by working 2 years ahead and valuing my education which can be seen through my near perfect GPA. I have received honors that range from excellence in academics, sports, and leadership and am very enthusiastic about public service.
My dream is to one day attend Harvard Law School to become an attorney. On my way to this goal, I am studying to receive an associate degree in Integrated Studies. Since I am a running start student, I will graduate with both a high school diploma and my associate degree in June 2025 at 16 years old. Then, hopefully I will transfer to the University of Washington to obtain my bachelor's degree and double major in Economics and Law, Societies, and Justice. If accepted to the University of Washington, I would like to join their Air Force ROTC program so that I may enter the Air Force as an officer after I graduate. During my time in the Air Force, I would like to attend law school and earn my Doctorate to become an attorney.
Being an attorney has always interested me because advocating for others has been an impactful part of my life throughout my college time. This is displayed through activities such as leading my college's student government, The Events and Advocacy Board, as the Programming Chair and serving on my college's Budget Committee, whose role is to determine what resources on campus would be funded by student fee dollars. Additionally, I enjoy reading books about world issues, legal cases, and economic systems, which has been a large part of my developing passion for law and has inspired me to try and become a U.S. senator someday.
I understand that I have many educational goals in order to work towards my desired career, and that it will be expensive to achieve these goals. I am the first generation to be born in America and attend college in my family. This is a huge dream of mine and theirs. I will continue to work hard and apply myself, and one day, help others to achieve their dreams too.
