I’m currently a freshman at MIT studying computer science and electrical engineering. On campus, I'm part of the Muslim Student Association as a member and as the chair of the Alumni and External Relations Committee. Additionally, I serve as web master, technology chair, and floor representative in my dorm. Lastly, I'm a member of the MIT Sport Taekwondo club, where we train and compete.
I've been a Girl Scout my whole life and recently became a lifetime member. I earned my Bronze Award by creating a project that promoted self-love in my community, my Silver Award for co-founding Big Sister, an organization that provides a safe space for young girls to share, seek advice, and explore STEAM, and my Gold Award with Bridges, an all-girls coding camp and hackathon designed to build sisterhood and reduce the stigma around women in computer science.
I served a one-year term on the GSEMA Board of Directors and am currently a member of the GSEMA STEM Committee. In high school, I was the co-editor of our newspaper and a tutor for middle school math and English. Beyond school, I love attending hackathons, playing soccer, and training in martial arts. I earned my Jr. Black Belt at the Boston Taekwondo Academy and my First-Degree Black Belt in Krav Maga at Fields Martial Arts Academy.
I also run my own Etsy shop, The Winsome Wire, where I sell handcrafted wire jewelry. In the future, I hope to pursue a career in computer science, engineering, and entrepreneurship.
