I have grown up in an environment that instilled in me the values of hard work, responsibility, and perseverance. Stepping into the real world requires dedication, long hours, and relentless effort—and I am fully prepared to meet those challenges with kindness and determination.
As an ambitious young woman, I am deeply committed to achieving my goals, regardless of the obstacles. Life presents difficulties that may tempt us to give up, but I believe perseverance is the key to success. My passion lies in dentistry, an often-overlooked field that profoundly impacts people’s overall health and confidence. I aspire to become either an orthodontist or an oral surgeon, not only improving oral health but also expanding access to quality, affordable care.
Being a Hispanic woman in a country where success is often shaped by systems that don’t always support people like me has made my journey even more challenging—and even more meaningful. I’ve had to work twice as hard to be seen, to be heard, and to create opportunities for myself in spaces that are often dominated by others. But instead of letting that discourage me, it’s fueled my ambition. I want to be part of the change—to stand as a role model for young Latinas who may not yet see themselves reflected in professional healthcare roles, especially in dentistry.
Currently, I am completing my core coursework at South Texas College and will transfer to the University of Texas at San Antonio this fall to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Biology. After graduating, I plan to attend dental school in San Antonio, earn my dentistry license, and eventually open my own practice. I am committed to hard work, faith, and patience as I navigate this journey, no matter the emotional or financial challenges I may face.
My greatest inspiration comes from my parents. Their unwavering dedication and sacrifices created a stable and loving environment for me, even during times of hardship. They taught me resilience and the value of perseverance—principles that continue to guide me every day.
My interest in dentistry was shaped by both positive and negative experiences. As a child, I feared dental visits, often associating them with discomfort. That perspective changed during my junior year of high school when I received orthodontic treatment at a different practice. That experience opened my eyes to the beauty of dentistry and the life-changing impact it can have on patients.
I am determined to follow this path and reach each goal I have set. With unwavering determination, dedication, and faith, I will build the future I envision and make a meaningful difference in the field of dentistry.
