My career of choice is to work in youth sports development, where I can help children build skills that will benefit them throughout their lives. I want to work directly with young athletes and guide them in areas such as teamwork, communication, discipline, and leadership. Sports have always shown me the value of structure and consistency, and I want to create that same environment for kids who are still learning who they are. My goal is to support their growth both as athletes and as individuals so they can carry those lessons into adulthood. I am passionate about this career because I believe sports give young people a healthy space to learn responsibility and confidence. When kids receive guidance at an early age, it can influence how they handle challenges, how they work with others, and how they approach their goals. I want to be someone who encourages them to push themselves, stay focused, and recognize their potential. Working in youth sports allows me to combine my interest in athletics with my desire to help the next generation grow in a positive direction. Attending Johnson C. Smith University has strengthened my interest in this field. JCSU has given me opportunities to learn, connect, and understand the importance of representation and support within a community. Being at an HBCU has reminded me why it matters to have people around who understand your background and push you to improve. That same sense of support is something I want to give to the kids I will work with in my future career. To pursue my academic and career goals, I have had to make several sacrifices. Balancing school and personal responsibilities hasn’t always been simple. I’ve had to manage my time carefully, stay disciplined with my priorities, and make choices that keep me focused on the long term instead of the moment. This has included sacrificing free time, taking on responsibilities that required maturity, and working through stressful periods while staying committed to my education. I’ve also had to learn how to handle financial challenges, make smart decisions about my resources, and take initiative in finding opportunities that support my goals. These sacrifices have helped me stay determined and have shown me the importance of consistency. Every challenge has taught me something about what it takes to reach the goals I have set for myself. I know that the discipline and focus I am building now will carry into my future career in youth sports. Overall, I want to build a career that allows me to guide young athletes and help them develop skills that will benefit them for years to come. I am committed to continuing my education, growing in my field, and preparing myself to make a meaningful impact on the next generation.
