My life goals are returning back to my family. My mother has always done so much for me as a single parent, if i could i would give everything for her happiness. She unfortunately couldn’t reach her goal of being a PA after all the hardships she faced that’s, why i want to go to school and pursue the dreams she wasn’t able to do. Not everyone gets the chance and im extremely grateful. I love to make people happy and it would be nice for my family to be happy.

Learner Mental Health Empowerment for Health Students Scholarship
Changing the world is something I have always seen myself doing, whether through donations, physically helping others, or supporting them mentally. My name is Leah Consalvi, I am 18 years old, and soon to be a freshman at Rowan University. I believe we were put in this world to help and guide each other, and being able to do that to the best of your ability is one of the most inspiring experiences a person can have.
Since I was a young child, I knew I wanted to give back. The way I saw myself doing this was through medical care. I may not know exactly which field of healthcare I will pursue yet, but I know it will involve helping people of all ages, from infants to the elderly. I want to treat, comfort, and advocate for those in need.
Growing up in a low-income family has shaped who I am. Up until last year, I lived with my mother, stepdad, grandmother, sister, and myself in a two-bedroom, one-bath apartment, and I still live there today. When my sister started her own family, I stayed behind, and at times, I felt left behind. Life was extremely hard, especially after all my amazing mom has been through. She is an incredible woman who works tirelessly to provide for us. She wasn’t able to fully follow her own dreams, but she still became an LPN. I admire her strength, and I wish she could have reached her full potential because she truly is powerful. That is why I want to follow in her footsteps and continue the dream she could not finish due to circumstances.
Because of my mom’s sacrifices, we were able to move to a better area with a strong school district. Even so, I struggled deeply with depression throughout high school. There were times I felt like giving up, but by the grace of God, something told me to keep going. That strength led me to where I am now, and I couldn’t be more grateful. I am blessed and excited to begin this new journey of higher education, not only to learn but to grow into the person I am meant to be.
My goal is to use my education to make the world a better place, both within the medical field and beyond. I believe everybody deserves a chance, and empathy is one of the strongest tools I can bring to others. Being an empathetic person has taught me the importance of understanding, patience, and compassion. Life can be incredibly difficult, and sometimes people simply need someone to guide them, listen to them, and believe in them. That is the kind of person I strive to be.
This scholarship would not only help me financially, but it would also help me continue building the foundation I need to serve others. My dream is not only to create a better life for myself and my family but to dedicate my life to giving back, just as my mom has shown me through her own sacrifices. I want to carry her legacy forward, push past the barriers she faced, and prove that no matter where you come from, you can rise above your circumstances and change the world.
