Bold PointsBio
Hello! I'm Lauren Trammell, I'm seventeen years old, and I'm currently a junior at Verdugo Hills High School. Once I graduate from high school, I intend to major in economics and eventually go to law school, becoming working towards a career in corporate law. I'm passionate about community and justice, which is why I'm the president of my school's GSA club and why I'm going to work in the legal field. I'm also very passionate about the value of the arts and arts education. I've been to my state's capitol to speak to legislators, advocating the importance of accessible arts education for everyone in my state. I love to perform, and I believe it's helped me learn about community, courage, and the value of life. I would describe myself as an empathetic, determined, and loving person.
I was introduced to leading when I was president of my elementary school's student council, and I've been almost consistently in leadership positions since then, with the exception of quarantine. I am currently secretary of my school's California Scholarship Federation, president of our Thespians troupe and GSA club, and part of the VAPA Magnet Student Council. I believe that I have the ability to make a positive change in my community, and it's my responsibility to exercise that. I spend all of my time at school, including lunches, working for classes or clubs.
I think that my purpose in life is truly to help others. I value equality strongly and would like to help carry out fairness in our legal system. I think I can enhance the good in the world if I can earn the right chance.

Learner Math Lover Scholarship
Life is full of uncertainty. You never know when your car will break down, your friend will move states, or a loved one will pass away. Few things are constant in life, and math is one of them. People can still discover new things to learn and new ways to apply math, making it one of the most useful tools in the world. Math is perfect once it's understood correctly and is universal. Many don't like to take the time to understand it, but math is probably the most useful, beautiful thing to exist.
Friends leave, people die, and the most popular person at school can change from minute to minute.
2 + 2 is always 4, the Pythagorean theorem always works out, and y=mx+b. Math itself is a simple-minded childhood friend that has only one goal: correctness. It will always fit together, no matter how often you take apart and rearrange the puzzle pieces. There is no moral controversy to its existence, nor any objection to its teaching. It is, it always has been, and it always will be until the end of everything, and even then who knows?
Math is a universal language. In China, Russia, Nigeria, England, and Belgium, math exists the same way. Few things can unite the world in a singular experience in the same way as mathematics. Yes, varied techniques of learning and applying said skills are implemented. Still, just about everyone with access to some education can speak a language that, when advanced, can be used for problem-solving and discovery. Math is faithful, indifferent, and constant in this extreme uncertainty, inequality, and hate.
Sometimes, when I need to ground myself or feel productive, I know I can turn to math. From elementary school children to the greatest minds in the world, we all turn to math to figure out some part or another of our lives. It not only affects everything but IS everything. Math makes the world go
'round and is underappreciated by many because of the difficulty of understanding some concepts. If we can lean on math, we have a rock to stand on in the middle of an ocean.
