While growing up, I helped care for my nana. My nana had a lot of health issues throughout her life and she taught me how to take care of her. She was a type two diabetic, she had heart issues and breathing problems. When I was two years old, my nana had a surgery and was staying at my house so my parents could take care of her after her surgery. Everyone had left the room one day besides my nana and me. My nana had started to bleed very heavily, almost a fatal amount. I ran to my parent's room and got them to help and we got my nana to the hospital. My nana always told me that story growing up and wanted me to know how I saved her life. As I continued to grow up after this, I watched her check her blood sugar and give herself insulin until I was old enough to learn how to do those things for her in case of an emergency. I also learned how to check her blood pressure, her pulse, and her oxygen levels. Whenever she had a fall or an accident, she let me take care of her wounds. I also learned how to give my nana the medications she was prescribed on time when she was supposed to take them. My nana also taught me how to take care of her when her blood sugar was very low. I also knew where all of her emergency supplies were in case she ever needed help. Throughout my childhood, I grew up to be my nana's own personal nurse. My nana told everyone that I was her personal little nurse everywhere we went. It was an experience I will cherish forever and I am so thankful I was able to take care of her like I did. I will forever dream of being able to take care of her again. My nana is the reason I want to become a nurse, and why I am so passionate about caring for others. All I want is to be able to become a nurse and help take care of and help my patients just like how I was able to take care of and help my nana. She is my guardian angel and I know she will always be watching over me for the rest of my life, I just hope that I can make her proud.

Pursuing a career in nursing will help my local community. I really believe that I can make a positive impact on people by providing them with the comfort and care that they deserve. This whole experience led to me having a passion for helping take care of people. I believe that nursing will allow me to make a positive impact on the people in my community. I am a hard worker, compassionate, and empathetic. I have a willingness to learn and further my knowledge in the medical field so that I can be able to provide quality care for patients. I can't wait to make a difference in someone's life by providing them with the comfort and care that they will need someday. Nursing has always had a very special place in my heart, and I am excited to be able to pursue this amazing career one day. I look forward to one day being able to provide comfort and quality care for many patients in need just like I was able to do for my nana while I was growing up. I will never forget the experience I had with my nana, and I know that every day while I take care of other people in need, I will think back on the experience I had with caring for my nana.
