I’ve always believed that a smile is the most beautiful thing you can wear, and I'm passionate about helping others discover the confidence and joy that comes with a healthy smile. As a student in the dental hygiene program at RCC, I'm pursuing my dream of making a difference in people's lives through compassionate care and education. People often tell me that my positive energy lights up a room, and I hope to use that energy to inspire others and change the world one smile at a time. As a single mother and the 1st in my family to attend college, pursuing my education in the dental hygiene program is both a challenging and rewarding journey. While I am deeply committed to achieving my academic and career goals, financial assistance is essential to help me balance the demands of school, parenting, and the daily living expenses. This support would allow me to focus on my studies, clinical training, and ultimately, giving back to my community as a dedicated dental hygienist. Being raised by a single mother in a family of four taught me the value of resilience, hard work, and determination . Watching my mother's sacrifices and dedication to our family inspired me to pursue more education and create a better future for myself and my child. These experiences have fueled my drive to finish college, despite the challenges, and to become a role model for my family while achieving my dream of becoming a dental hygienist. As a dental assistant with 14 years of experience, I am currently building on my expertise through enrollment in the dental hygiene program at RCC. This program has broadened my understanding of advanced dental care, including preventative and periodontal therapies, patient education, and evidence-based practices. My involvement in clinical rotations has allowed me to apply my skills in a new capacity, further solidifying my passion for patient-centered care and oral health promotion. With my extensive background and ongoing education, I am excited to transition into the dental hygiene field, where I can make an even greater impact on patient health and well-being.

When I was a child at the age of 10, the most traumatic incident happened to me and it involved my front tooth, #8 to be exact. I will never forget this accident, because since then I have been intrigued by the dental field, which I’ve been a part of for 14 years now. Let’s go back a couple decades…. There I was with blood gushing from my mouth. I had just fallen off my friends’ shoulders as we were playing in my small bedroom. We had the grand idea of walking around in a circle while I was on her shoulders and as we her giggling and laughing my girlfriend Jessica lost her balance and fell. I came flying off, and my front tooth hit the edge of my dresser, causing it to jet out at a 90-degree angle! The time was 9:00pm, and my mother called our dentist Dr. Miller. He was so gracious and immediately had us meet him at his office for an emergency visit. The dentist was able to push my tooth back into place. I don’t remember too many details, but my mom said he had to put a splint in my mouth to reposition and stabilize my tooth.
