Bio

For years I aspired to be a nurse. While I excelled in corporate America, it wasn’t until I took the leap to re-enroll in college that I found becoming a nurse was, in fact, my “calling.” Here I am, five years later, pursuing a Doctoral Degree. I am committed to enhancing my knowledge and improving the nursing profession. My interest is in translating knowledge into practice, and my goal is to impact healthcare organization's policies positively. This opportunity to pursue a Doctorate will help me enhance my clinical skills, teach, and lead future nurses and other healthcare personnel. In my current role, I mentor and guide junior nurses and am responsible for fellow staff training. My leadership style is transformational, participative, and developmental. I strongly support empowering nurses to make them feel important and capable of assuming leadership positions. Teaching shapes the nursing practice as it helps impart essential values such as professionalism, critical thinking, and evidence-based practice to the learners. The chance to complete this doctoral degree will be a great chance to achieve the vision of being a leader in the healthcare sector. I want to thank you in advance for scholarship considerations, nominations & your unwavering dedication to student success.

    Jill S. Tolley Scholarship
I feel that I am uniquely deserving of this award because I aim to inspire women of all demographics to persevere with great determination to take any & all avenues of success, whether these women define their success through financials, academia, or personal growth. My "why" for pursuing higher education was initially spurred by life-changing circumstances in which I found myself a single mother moving home to mom & dad with no college degree that would secure career advancement, thus leading to financial & professional growth. Over the last 5 years, I have worked multiple jobs at once while obtaining both my associate & baccalaureate degrees. I now work two jobs with a child in high school who is taking college courses herself. I found myself assisting her with dual enrollment & found that as much as I have inspired her to pursue her academia aggressively, I am too still hungry for more knowledge, personal growth, and professional advancement. She inspires me as much as I inspire her. I fear that, at this point, only funding such growth may hinder my process. It is with great hope that you, too, find that I am uniquely deserving of this scholarship as well. I thank you greatly for your consideration.
    Bold Career Goals Scholarship
I dream big! I am currently working to obtain both an Associates & Bachelors of Science in Nursing while double minoring in Health & Wellness as well as Business. My goal is to pursue a competitive Nurse Practioner program that will allow me to further pursue my many interests within science, healthcare, & business. I come from a military family & find myself drawn to the idea of utilizing my education & expertise within veteran-based facilities such as the Department of Veteran Affairs. Furthermore, I aim to open my own business promoting Health & Wellness for all individuals. I would be honored to be a part of a research team at some point during my educational & professional endeavors.
    Veterans Next Generation Scholarship
My father, a veteran of the US Army, has made a huge impact on my career aspirations. My father's recent health decline has prompted me, more than ever, to not only pursue nursing as a career but to advance in the field of nursing. I am currently working toward my ASN & RN-BSN concurrently all while minoring in both health & wellness & business. I have been able to learn matter that is specific to my future career as a nurse & aid in my father's journey to wellness. I have been able to take the knowledge gained thus far & use it to actively participate in his treatment. Attending various appointments to Veteran Affair Facility has furthered my interest in potentially seeking employment with such a facility post-graduation. I have the potential to give back to those who have served our nation not only as a nurse but as a child of a veteran & former spouse to a veteran. It is my goal to succeed in my academic endeavors so that my potential can be implemented.
