Hi, I'm Ailani :) I'm an avid writer and plan to be a book author and a librarian. My book is currently in the works and it's called Brownstein! My dream for my writing career is to be a published author. I'd even love to write storylines or scripts for my favorite video games like the Elder Scrolls, and maybe the Fallout TV Series! I want to study Creative Writing in college and get my master's in Library Sciences and the Fine Arts. I started writing when I was about two years old, and I know at that time it was just letters and some words, but I feel like that early beginning with pencil and paper was a sign that writing was my calling.

In my life, writing has granted me the beautiful ability to take the ink in my ballpoint pen, and paint pictures in the minds of those reading. It is a beautiful gift to wield, and I have never taken it for granted. One focus I have always put towards anything I put on paper or type, is to put my mind on the page and spare no words in doing so. I want people to feel everything I feel, viscerally and wholly. Writing is amazing in that I can share the inner-workings of my mind, and directly affect the inner-workings of another's. Against the black of the mind they see their own tailored images of what I have written, my story formulating itself in pictures as they read. For this reason I have also always loved books. We can connect with long passed authors just because they put ink to paper. We see their thoughts, hopes, and dreams, all before us wrapped up tight and bound. Writing is so personal yet so accessible and universal. Some may say that writing is becoming a lost art, but the truth is if we look deeply, it is all around us. On billboards, there is something clever someone wrote and had to think up, in the morning weather a script someone wrote is being read. I adore the millions of connections writing forms in these ways, and want to take my passion for creating such beauty, however miniscule, to college because even if the writing you see isn’t for creative purposes, it is everywhere. That element of ubiquity is what makes it a great treasure of humanity, and of mine, and every delightful stanza and sentence someone’s heart and soul has been poured into deserves our attention.
In my higher education, I plan to study Creative Writing, and eventually get my M.A. in Library Sciences. This all comes from the love I have spoken about. I want to know the words I am reading, the people whose brains I am being allowed to peek into with every flip of the page. I have already begun doing much research on the schools I am applying to, and whether or not they have literary magazines and opportunities for writers to build communities. If not, I plan to forge a path for writers at that school by founding an organization or club. All people deserve a space where they can meet like minded people, and because colleges are so diverse, it can be hard to find your people. My continuation of my passion for writing will not just be physical, in my fingers hitting the keyboard, but also in fostering or joining a community of those who share the want to delve into the world of poetry, novels and the art of the pen.
