I would like to start by saying I am so grateful for the life that I have. I know many people stress on lving pay check to paycheck, but my parents have tried not to have me feel the stress from these situations. My dad is a farmer, so most of the time, there are good chances we will not have a good year. There are so many different pieces that contribute to having successful crop seasons. These past few years have been tough for my family. Thankfully, the Lord has provided in ways I did not even think were possible. Every time things get hard, and it feels like the world is against you, someone always comes through. I have learned the importance of hard work. My parents thought this attribute was important, so they started teaching me young. I got my first job the summer after my freshman year of high school. I started off helping sort corn at the farm a mile down the road. I did not always enjoy the 5:00 AM start times in the summer, but I knew I needed to start my savings account. I have had other jobs since then, including working at a lemonade stand, being a lifeguard, and a certified nurses' aid. Each of these jobs has taught me new skills, and has led me to meeting some of my best friends. I know work is not always the most fun, but it truly can teach you incredible lessons. Next fall, I am planning on attending the University of Mississippi. I am so blessed to have this university, even being a possibility. I have grown up in a small town in Kansas, and I have always dreamed of going to Ole Miss. I am not set on a specific major yet, but I am interested in their Southern Studies program with a minor in history. I want to become a teacher, some day. I have always been passionate about history, and I want to find ways to help others love the subject as much as I do. I have been blessed with great teachers throughout my educational career, and I want to be in a position to help others. School has always been an important part of my life. Because of the hard work that my parents instilled in me when I was young, I have always had a desire to succeed in school. I am planning on paying all of my college costs myself, and that can seem incredibly stressful. I am so thankful for all of these amazing opportunities. I cannot express my excitement to attend a university like Ole Miss. I would not be able to make my dreams come true without generous people like you. Thank you so much for your time and your consideration.

When I start hearing bits and pieces of a conversation about current world events, I know that hours could go by, and I would never get bored. History has always been an interest of mine, even in elementary school. As I have grown up, things happening in the world around me have become an even bigger interest to me because they are constantly changing. I also love that some of my family and I share a passion for this topic, making it an easy conversation starter. I will always benefit from having knowledge about things going on around me, no matter the setting. My interest in current world events has helped me understand what is going on around me, helped me connect with others in conversations, and has prepared me for my future. I specifically love current world events because they are constantly changing. I also enjoy learning these types of things because they help make me feel more knowledgeable about some of the things going on around me. I feel that as Americans, we like to live in our own world and tune out the world around us. I also mentioned how this topic is a conversation starter in every situation. Current world events do not have to involve politics; they can be kind stories about things that have happened in other countries. This is why I love talking about them; there is an endless number of different topics to discuss. Another reason I could spend hours talking about current world events is that I can connect with some of my family members in this way. My dad loves all things history-related, and I love it when we get to talk about natural disasters or sweet stories about things that have occurred around the world. Both of my grandpas served in the military, so I enjoy having something to talk to them about. It also helps that both sets of my grandparents watch the news, so I feel like they are knowledgeable about events that are going on. Lastly, I could lose track of time talking about current world events because it truly is a passion of mine. I am planning on attending Ole Miss and joining their Southern Studies program. I want others to love history as much as I do. I think being invested in learning about events happening in the world around you can be beneficial in a job setting. I believe that whatever I choose to go into will most likely have something to do with history, helping me be able to share my love for this topic with others. Current world events have always been intriguing for me and have grown to be quite special over the years. I love being able to learn new things about different types of people and what events are happening around the world. I also can appreciate that the topics are always changing, so you learn something new every single day. Current world events give me something to talk about with my family and are great conversation starters. No matter what I choose to do when I grow up, knowing information about the world cannot do any harm to me. I can positively say that I could talk about current world events for hours and never get tired of it.

I have been interested in history since I was a little kid. This passion of mine began because my dad would always watch war movies with me. I know, it sounds weird to watch war movies as a kid, but I was always so intrigued. I loved seeing how our country began and the history behind different cultures. I have always dreamed of having a history teacher. I have taken a few history classes in school that were boring, and that made me so sad. I was like, these topics have endless ways to be insanely cool, yet some teachers do not have a passion for the subject. My plans include attending the University of Mississippi and participating in its Southern Studies program. I hope to learn more about the history and culture of the South. One topic that I am extremely passionate about is current events. When I start hearing bits and pieces of a conversation about current world events, I know that hours could go by, and I would never get bored.
