I would like to manage a business or a non-profit agency, like my father. I want to create a positive environment for my employees, and we can work together as a team to help our customers. I believe that we all can learn from each other, and I want to be able to ask others for their input, in order to make the business more efficient and successful. I would like to program software that can keep track of our efficiencies and successes.
Additionally, while volunteering over 200 hours throughout high school, I have been able to interact with people with different personalities and walks of life. That made me realize that we all can contribute something special to everything that we do.

Charlene K. Howard Chogo Scholarship
I plan to major in Business Management and run a not-for-profit agency. My ideal job would be to own a business, like my father. I want to create a positive environment for my employees, and we can work together as a team to help our customers. I believe that we all can learn from each other, and I want to be able to ask others for their input, in order to make the business more efficient and successful. I would like to receive this scholarship, because it will assist me in being able to afford a higher education. I was inspired to continue my education, because my grandfather was able to enjoy his engineering profession, by getting both architectural and civil engineering degrees. That enabled him to have the flexibility to work in various positions throughout his career.
I believe that the biggest achievement I have had during school is that I have had the opportunity to travel to about thirty states. I have met many people with various backgrounds. These include Native Alaskans and Native Americans. My experiences with various people who live in different places and who have had different upbringings has allowed me to accept diversity now and as I go through college, and eventually when I work towards an established career.
Furthermore, there are many things that I am doing to try to help the earth remain green. The first action that I am taking is to recycle anything I can. This includes aluminum cans that I have had to dig out of the ground with a shovel. It also includes plastic bottles that have the recycle logo on them. A second action that I am taking is to re-plant vegetables, in order to allow them to grow more plants. This allows me to share the extra vegetables with my neighbors. A third action that I am taking is to plant fruit trees. I researched which ones I can plant together, in order for them to cross-pollinate and produce fruit. Finally, I also feed any fruits or vegetable scraps to my chickens and ducks. In turn, they lay more eggs, which I can also share with my neighbors. I feel that helping the environment in these ways impacts mine and many other people’s futures. I would like to incorporate many of these green practices into my business.
Finally, I run the audio and visual equipment at my church, during each service, including broadcasting online, to enable people who are hard-of-hearing or cannot see well, to also enjoy the services. I believe that my 200-plus hours of volunteer service has assisted me in appreciating what a great life I have, as I help others who are less fortunate. I plan to continue to volunteer throughout my lifetime.

A second action that I am taking is to re-plant vegetables, in order to allow them to grow more plants. This allows me to share the extra vegetables with my neighbors. Many of them are easy to do, such as sweet potatoes and onions. A third action that I am taking is to plant fruit trees. I researched which ones I can plant together, in order for them to cross-pollinate and produce fruit. Finally, I also feed any fruits or vegetable scraps to my chickens and ducks. Another person who encouraged me to give my time to others is a nun from my high school, in which she had worked over thirty years. She gave up most of her life to serve God, to help others, and to tell thousands of people about Jesus. She also volunteered to assist the school when teachers were out, due to sickness.
My grandmother has also inspired me to volunteer a lot of my time for various charities. For most of her life, she had volunteered almost every day, making afghans and other crafts, and then donating them to members of the church who were home bound or in the hospital.
Finally, many of my peers have had the attitude that they have done enough to help others, when they have only volunteered a few hours of their time. I believe that is not enough to realize how inspirational it can be to show acts of kindness, and in turn, those people are kind to me.

Hello. My name is Landon Petershagen. Throughout my entire life, I have had many pets. My mother always had pets when she was a child, and she encouraged me to love animals, also. She told me about the times that she had found stray cats and dogs. She would sneak food out of the house and feed and water them. Then, she would gradually tame them and take them in as her own. Many times, her parents, who are my grandparents, wondered why so many animals stayed around. Then, they finally figured it out, but they were very happy to have the animals there, since it made my mother happy.
Growing up with pets in my life has been great! When I was about three years old, my parents got me chickens. I had so much fun gathering the eggs. I had about eighty chickens. I learned about so many different breeds of chickens. The most interesting, in my opinion, is the bantam chicken. It is small and has long, fluffy feathers. I sold some of the eggs, but then I had some neighbors who were poor, so I gave them eggs to eat. Later on, we got ducks. They were so cute! I had names for all of them. My favorite breed of duck is Muscovy. They are so big and beautiful.
Additionally, we have had many cats and dogs during my childhood and teenage years. I enjoy learning to care for them. They, in turn, give love and affection back to me. Many of these animals I got from people who could no longer care for them, or they had to move to a place where they couldn’t have pets. I felt bad for those people, but I assured them that I would take excellent care of the animals.
The cat I have now is named Tiger. He has had some difficulties with his health. He somehow injured his leg, and sprained it. He had to take it easy, in order to heal. Then, he ended up having kidney stones. We have a great veterinarian who gave him fluids and medicine, and then performed surgery to remove the kidney stones. Now, Tiger feels so much better, and he runs and plays even more than he did before he had health problems. When I thought I would lose him, it made me realize how much I should appreciate my pets.
Furthermore, we have a dog named Cookie. She has black and brown colors that resemble a chocolate chip cookie. We had her go through obedience training, and I got to be there to learn with her. All of the pets I have owned helped me be happy, learn responsibility, and realize that I have a purpose in life for us to love and care for each other.

Sloane Stephens Doc & Glo Scholarship
Empowering Affected Students from the Tri-State Mining District Scholarship
When I was in seventh grade, there was a very destructive tornado in my town of Jefferson City, Missouri. It happened on my last day of school for the year, which was May 22, 2019. Our entire class was supposed to go on a field trip of bowling that day. The tornado happened in the middle of the night, while I was sleeping. When I attempted to go to school that morning, as we were driving into town, we noticed the significant damage to multiple buildings, cars, and trees. We prayed that no one had gotten killed, which luckily no one was. There also were many roads that were blocked off, due to debris. Our storage shed in town was damaged, which we had a boat, motorcycles, printers, and computers in. We only had minor damage to them, but many of the other people with storage sheds next to us lost all of their belongings, including classic cars. We decided to go to work, helping them. It was a very hot and humid day. A non-profit group was nice enough to come by and provide us with bottles of water. As we started working, other people showed up to help. There were probably about fifty people working on cleaning up the mess. It was a wonderful scene in which everyone was helping each other. Additionally, we decided to sort everything out. We helped other people take pictures to turn into their insurance companies. For items that could not be repaired, or that were totally destroyed, we decided to recycle what we could. We sorted the plastic jugs and bottles, and also the aluminum scraps. We took many trips with our truck and trailer to the recycling company. After a few days of working at the storage sheds, we talked about what we could do to help the environment. There are many things, now, that I am doing to try to help the earth remain green. The first action that I am taking is to recycle anything I can. This includes aluminum cans that I have had to dig out of the ground with a shovel. Stephen "Mike" Flinders Agriculture and Animal Care Scholarship
Throughout my entire life, I have learned how to care for various animals.
My parents supported me in taking care of many animals.
They, in turn, give love and affection back to me, so I know that I have won their hearts.
All of the pets I have owned helped me be happy, learn responsibility, and realize that I have a purpose in life for us to love and care for each other, and also win their hearts!
Finally, I am taking actions to help the earth. One such action is to re-plant vegetables, in order to allow them to grow more plants. This allows me to share the extra vegetables with my neighbors. Another action that I am taking is to plant fruit trees.

Big Picture Scholarship
The movie, Home Alone, is one of the most popular movies ever made, and its purpose, or theme, is to remind people about the value of family as they laugh most of the way through.
At the beginning of the movie, the family leaves on an airplane for a vacation to travel to Paris, France. The mother then figures out that she left her son at home all alone in Chicago, Illinois. She and her husband are very frantic about leaving him at home all by himself, because they do not want anything to happen that would hurt their family. They end up being delayed on their trip home, trying to get back to him. A couple of the problems that they encounter are that the airplane flights to go back home are all booked, and the telephone lines are not working, so they can not call Kevin. The night before the date of the trip, Kevin wishes for his family to disappear. He actually believes he caused this to happen, since he still sees their cars in the garage on the morning that they leave. He is not aware that they rented a car. Kevin thinks that it will be a fun time to do whatever he wants. He orders ten pizzas and the parents have to pay $122 plus a tip when they return. Kevin also gets to stay up late and watch whatever he wants on television. In the end, when Kevin’s parents arrive home, they reconcile and realize that they miss each other. They realize that the house being trashed and the money spent was less important than Kevin being safe.
While Kevin is at home by himself, two burglars by the names of Harry and Marv attempt to break into the house to steal things. They are never successful, because Kevin outwits them and sets up booby traps for them. Even though the thieves keep getting hurt and embarrassed, they come back multiple times. A reason why Kevin sets these traps is that he wants to be sure that he will be able to see his loving family with him at home, again.
One of the traps that is set is when one of the robbers comes in the front door. He walks into plastic wrap with adhesive on it. Then, he trips on a wire that causes a fan to turn on and blow feathers all over his face. A second trap is that Kevin spread toy cars all over the floor which caused them to fall down. A third trap is when the burglars climb up a robe to his tree house. Kevin cuts the rope, and they swing into the bricks on the house. Another trap is when Kevin pours water on the stairs outside, and when it freezes, they take a painful fall on the concrete. Other booby traps include buckets of paint swinging into their faces, an iron falling on them, a blow torch on fire above their heads, a Tarantula spider thrown at their faces, and tar and nails placed on the basement steps. In real life, most or all of these stunts would create a lot of pain and harm to people.
According to various movie-review websites, many people who have watched Home Alone would recommend that a family watch it, since it is a great comedy in which they are reminded about the value of the family. Additionally, since the movie’s setting is at Christmas time, that makes it even better, since many families get together with other families to celebrate the birth of Christ.

I plan to continue to volunteer throughout my lifetime.
JT Lampert Scholarship
I plan to major in Business Management and run a not-for-profit agency. My ideal job would be to own a business, like my father. I want to create a positive environment for my employees, and we can work together as a team to help our customers. I believe that we all can learn from each other, and I want to be able to ask others for their input, in order to make the business more efficient and successful.
Furthermore, there are many things that I am doing, in order to try to help the earth remain green. The first action that I am taking is to recycle anything and everything that I can. In turn, they lay more eggs, which I can also share with my neighbors. I feel that helping the environment in these ways impacts mine and many other people’s futures. I would like to incorporate many of these green practices into my business.
Additionally, I am currently a member of the Student Ambassadors Club, in which I give tours to junior-high-school students who may decide to attend Helias. Finally, I run the audio and visual equipment at my church, during each service, including broadcasting online, to enable people who are hard-of-hearing or cannot see well, to also enjoy the services. I will be responsible for most of my college expenses, so I have been saving money in certificates of deposit at my bank. It also allowed him to have stable income for his family.

Anthony Bruder Memorial Scholarship
I plan to major in Business Management, and run a not-for-profit agency. My ideal job would be to own a business, like my father. I want to create a positive environment for my employees, and we can work together as a team to help our customers. I believe that we all can learn from each other, and I want to be able to ask others for their input, in order to make the business more efficient and successful.
I will be responsible for most of my college expenses, so I have been saving money in certificates of deposit at my bank.
It also allowed him to have stable income for his family.
I was able to realize how other people may not have had the opportunities that I have had, to be able to afford even some of the basic requirements, in order to live above the poverty level.
Furthermore, there are many things that I am doing, in order to try to help the earth remain green. The first action that I am taking is to recycle anything and everything that I can. In turn, they lay more eggs, which I can also share with my neighbors. I feel that helping the environment in these ways impacts mine and many other people’s futures. I would like to incorporate many of these green practices into my business.
Another achievement I have had during school is receiving an award for participating in football for two years. Additionally, I am currently a member of the Student Ambassadors Club, in which I give tours to junior-high-school students who may decide to attend Helias Catholic High School. Bookshelf to Big Screen Scholarship
Home Alone, is one of the most popular movies and books ever made, and its purpose, or theme, is to remind people about the value of family as they laugh most of the way through. Home Alone received great reviews, according to multiple critics. Also, the budget for the movie was about $15 million, but it grossed about $476 million at the box office. A couple of the problems that they encounter are that the airplane flights to go back home are all booked, and the telephone lines are not working, so they cannot call Kevin.

I greatly admire my grandfather, who was able to enjoy his engineering profession by getting both architectural and civil engineering degrees. That enabled him to have the flexibility to work in various positions throughout his career. It also allowed him to have a stable income for his family. Additionally, I believe that my 150-plus hours of volunteer service has assisted me in appreciating what a great life I have, as I help others who are less fortunate. Also, while volunteering, I have been able to interact with people with different personalities and walks of life. I have had the opportunity to travel to about thirty states. This will help me as I go through college, and eventually when I work towards an established career. Furthermore, I plan to major in Business Management. My ideal job would be to manage a business, like my father. I want to create a positive environment for my employees, and we can work together as a team to help our customers. I believe that we all can learn from each other, and I want to be able to ask others for their input, in order to make the business more efficient and successful. Finally, my motivation for wanting to participate in speech and debate would be to highlight reasons for helping the earth remain green. I would like to encourage others to do some of the things that I have been participating in. The first action that I am taking is to recycle anything and everything that I can. Netflix and Scholarships!
I believe that the best television series that will be coming to Netflix will be the show, "Prison Break". This series was created between the years 2005 and 2017. It is so exciting, that I can watch it over and over, and I notice different things every time. In this series, an innocent man is put in prison for a homicide that he did not commit. Because of this alleged crime, he is put on death row. His brother is the architectural engineer for the prison, and since he knows that prison inside and out, he has a map of the escape plan tattooed onto his body. He robs a bank, in order to get put in prison. Then, the plan is to break out together. Once they do break out, they have to prove that he is innocent, but there are many people and obstacles in the way, as they try to keep from getting captured, again. A group of bad men called, "The Company", work with the government to try to keep him in prison, in order to protect the ones who are actually doing the crimes. The characters in this series are very into the story. They do an excellent job of keeping the attention of myself and my friends as we watch it. It has even won multiple awards, including eight Emmys, and was nominated for forty Emmys. It also has excellent ratings by many companies. IMDB shows a rating of 8.3 out of 10. As we watch Prision Break, my friends and I have been discussing and debating over what we believe will happen next. In most cases it is difficult to know, since there are so many different twists to the story. There are many instances in which we believe that they are going to get caught, but every time, they narrowly get by. I actually have a friend who works in a prison, so that even makes it more interesting for me. He has not witnessed anyone trying to escape, but he always has to keep that in mind when he is dealing with inmates every day. Safety and security are most important in running a prison. Finally, since there are ninety episodes at forty-four minutes each, you will need to actually set aside multiple weekends, in order to have the time to watch all episodes. But, you will not regret it. The story is very exciting! Have fun!
Minecraft Forever Fan Scholarship
There are many things that I am doing, in order to try to help the earth remain green, and I would like to show this in a Minecraft activity. The first action that I am taking is to recycle anything and everything that I can. In turn, they lay more eggs, which I can also share with my neighbors. I feel that helping the environment in these ways impacts mine and many other people’s futures, so I believe that Minecraft is a great way to show others how I help the earth remain green.

I plan to major in Business Management. My ideal job would be to manage a non-profit agency or a business, like my father. I want to create a positive environment for my employees, and we can work together as a team to help our customers. I believe that we all can learn from each other, and I want to be able to ask others for their input, in order to make the business more efficient, successful, and reduce the carbon footprint.
Additionally, I will be responsible for most of my college expenses, so I have been saving money in certificates of deposit at my bank. I would like to receive this scholarship, because it will assist me in being able to afford a higher education.
Finally, I have had the opportunity to travel to about thirty states. I have met many people with various backgrounds. These include Native Alaskans and Native Americans. My experiences with various people who live in different places and who have had different upbringings has allowed me to accept diversity now and as I go through college, and eventually when I work towards an established career. I would like to volunteer my time, one day, to visit these people, again, and help them with such things as growing food and raising chickens, so that they may be self-sufficient and learn how to manage sustainable practices.

Another personal strength I have in regards to community service is volunteering at my church. I believe that my 150-plus hours of volunteer service at Liberty Road Baptist Church has assisted me in appreciating what a great life I have, as I help others who are less fortunate. Every Sunday, I run the online stream and manage the sound board, which enables those who cannot see well or are hard-of-hearing, to enjoy the services, also. Additionally, while volunteering, I have been able to interact with people who have different personalities and walks of life. This will help me as I go through college, and eventually when I work towards an established career.
Many of my peers have had the attitude that they have done enough to help others, when they have only volunteered a few hours of their time. I believe that is not enough to realize how inspirational it can be to show acts of kindness, and in turn, those people are kind to me.
I am currently a member of the Student Ambassadors Club, in which I give tours to junior-high-school students who may decide to attend Helias Catholic High School. I enjoy volunteering my time for this, because I believe that my time and educational experience at Helias has been very rewarding.
