Hi, my name is Lamon Witherspoon Jr., and this is my story. I’ve loved football for as long as I can remember. Ever since I was little, the game was my ultimate passion. But when I was seven years old, my whole life changed in a single second after I was struck by a car. I spent an entire month in the hospital and six full months in a body cast. I literally had to learn how to walk all over again. While other kids my age were out on the field learning the fundamentals, getting hits in, and building their skills, I was fighting just to rebuild basic strength and mobility. Missing those key early years made me feel like I was starting way behind everybody else, and for a long time, I wondered if I would ever be able to catch up. When I finally got back into sports in high school, it wasn't easy at all. But I put in the work to overcome every obstacle. Today, I stand at 6'1" and 280 pounds, stronger than ever. To build my mindset and physical power even further, I didn't stick to just football. I joined the wrestling team, too. Wrestling taught me real discipline, leverage, conditioning, and how to fight through pain. Learning to push through on the mat made me a much dominant player on the football field. I gave everything I had to both sports, earning a lot of medals along the way. One of my proudest high school accomplishments was being selected to play in the BCAA All-Star game on December 11, 2025, being recognized as one of the top 120 high school football seniors in Broward County. Going from a body cast to playing top tier varsity football taught me early on that it doesn't matter where you start in life it’s about how hard you are willing to work every single day to get where you want to be. Now, I am excited to step into this next chapter at Florida Memorial University. I am going to give everything I have on the football field while majoring in business. Understanding business is critical for my long term future so I can build something lasting beyond my athletic career. My goal isn't just to succeed for myself. I want to change lives by sharing my story and motivating the youth to keep going, no matter what obstacles get thrown their way. I want kids to see that heavy setbacks don't have to stop your dreams. And on a very real note, I always remind young kids to put safety first and look both ways before crossing the street, you never know how fast one moment can change your life. With a praying family, hard work, faith, discipline, and resilience, you can overcome anything. Let's get it!
