FinalistBio
I’m La'Keisha Ross, a proud African American woman, mother, and first-generation college student pursuing a career in healthcare, specifically in diagnostic medical sonography. My passion lies in serving women from underserved communities with empathy, accuracy, and care. I believe that healthcare is more than a service; it’s a platform for justice, healing, and empowerment. Healthcare, for me, is not just a career path, it’s a calling. I desire to advocate for women's wellness and equity. I’ve seen firsthand how women in underserved communities are often left unheard and misdiagnosed. I aim to change that. My goal is to open a trauma-informed, community-based imaging clinic that provides culturally competent care for struggling women. I have also been involved in community work through organizations like Young Women of Excellence and The Golden Girls of Her Gold Mind LLC in Toledo, Ohio. I currently serve as an HR Coordinator with Golden Girls, where I assist in operations and support programming that empowers women personally and professionally. I was invited into this leadership role because of my optimistic personality, interpersonal strengths, and growing professional skillset. Having once been a recipient of support services myself, I am passionate about giving back. I’m applying for scholarships not just to ease the financial burden of school but to continue walking in purpose without pause. With your support, I will continue to serve, grow, and lead in my community, and in the future of healthcare.
