WinnerBio
My name is Laila Lozano, and I am currently pursuing my undergraduate degree at Howard University as part of the university’s selective BA/JD accelerated program. This program is designed for high-achieving students who are committed to continuing to law school and allows me to graduate a year early. My interest in law, specifically criminal justice, stems from the involvement of a family member who was a victim of the discriminatory criminal justice apparatus. My humble upbringing has compelled me to tear down all barriers, viewing them as mere challenges to overcome through grit and perseverance. I strive to achieve my dreams and utilize my successes to uplift others and create meaningful change in the world. Through both my academic studies and community service, I work diligently towards that goal. While personal ambition is a significant motivator, I am exceedingly driven by a deep commitment to justice and equity.
Currently, I am at risk of not being able to return to school due to financial barriers and am in dire need of financial support.
