Bio

Flying through the air is my greatest passion! Whether I am piloting a plane or flipping off the end of a diving board, a beautiful flight and landing are my focus. I am a girl with grit, who does not accept that my feet are supposed to be firmly planted on the ground. I am a student pilot and have been accepted into Bowling Green State University's Flight Technology and Operations (Professional Pilot) program beginning in Fall 2026 As I mentioned, I am also a diver for my high school's varsity team. Prior to when I entered high school, our swim team hadn't had any divers for many years. I restarted the diving team, and we are now up to three members! (Video: https://photos.app.goo.gl/NCMGyNvLijcQM28K9) When I'm not flying, I participate in our high school's musicals and volunteer my time as a member of Key Club and my church's youth group. Other activities in which I participate are our high school's competitive marching band (sousaphone) and concert band, as well as the top level audition ensemble for chorus. During the summers, I am a lifeguard at a residential Christian camp. I use the money earned at my job to help pay for the cost of the flying lessons, which I split 50/50 with my parents. In my spare time, I crochet gifts for my friends and also create my own clothing. I enjoy painting wall murals (https://photos.app.goo.gl/NhFmo6JhrgQnoB4y7) and doing canvas paintings too. All-in-all, I'm a fun and active teenage girl, but I've got big dreams. I'm doing everything I can to pursue those dreams and, as they say, the sky's the limit!

In both athletics and aviation, confidence, decisiveness, and inner strength are non-negotiable—yet these are qualities women are not always encouraged to embrace. As a female athlete and volunteer in my school and community, I have not only developed these traits, but learned to embrace them. These skills have already benefited me since starting my private pilot training in 2024 and will continue to set me apart as I enter Bowling Green State University's Flight Technology and Operations/Professional Pilot program. Over the years, there was always one sport I enjoyed more than any other—springboard diving. When I entered high school, Kiski Area hadn’t had a diving team in years. There was no diving coach, nor any other divers. If I wanted to dive, I would need to forge my own path. Through initiative and creativity, I worked with my swim coach to develop a practice schedule. I sought out resources, researched the rules of competitive diving, and regularly traveled to a diving club for lessons. I learned to perform under pressure and grow in this high-stress environment, qualifying for championships my sophomore year. In my junior year, I recruited another student and, through networking, connected with an experienced diver who applied to become our coach. I had the confidence to pursue a new path, coordinate resources, and take the initiative to build a diving team from the ground up! One additional lesson I’ve learned through my experience in diving is that no skill can ever be truly perfected. Even after years of practice, each dive presents an opportunity to refine a technique, adjust a movement, or improve timing and precision. I've carried this mindset with me into my private pilot training, where I've found that the same principle applies. Just like diving, flying demands constant awareness, learning, and the humility to know that there is always something new to understand or a technique to enhance. Through my school’s Key Club, I have volunteered over 460 hours assisting with school events, Read Across America, community clean-up, and community arts events. Through my youth group, I have volunteered an additional 206 hours, leading vacation bible school, preparing and serving food at a soup kitchen, leading worship, and working at clean-up events. I have also participated in Camp Lutherlyn’s Polar Plunge for four years, raising a total of $2813. The money raised provides aid to campers who need financial assistance to attend camp. Having witnessed firsthand the experiences of campers who are supported by these camperships, I feel honored to be a part of this fundraiser. Through these experiences, I have gained humility, insight into other people’s challenges, and a passion for supporting my community through service. Pursuing a career in aviation requires significant financial investment, particularly in flight training and certification. Flight lab fees at Bowling Green State University are estimated at $80,000 over four years, in addition to tuition, room, and board. This scholarship would help ease that burden, allowing me to focus more fully on developing my skills as a pilot and continuing to pursue excellence in a demanding field. More importantly, it would support my goal of becoming a confident and capable female presence in aviation—someone who not only succeeds, but encourages others to pursue paths they may not always feel welcomed in. I strive to embody the work ethic, ambition, and kindness that this scholarship represents, and to carry those values with me throughout my career and in every community I serve.

My greatest inspiration to pursue a career in aviation as a commercial airline pilot is the drive of continuous learning. Learning is something everyone does throughout life, but some careers provide more opportunities to continue to build upon your knowledge. Aviation flight is an everchanging career where growth is constant and you never stop learning. A career as a pilot would provide me with the opportunity to pursue knowledge that will continuously build. I have dreamed from a young age of becoming a pilot and am still amazed that it is now my reality. What sparked my interest in aviation was my father speaking of his time in the Air Force. My father wished to learn to fly as well but never got the chance. His support for me to become a pilot inspires me. I am beyond grateful to have the opportunity to achieve my goals and cannot wait for my dreams to further flourish. Aviation is a career that connects everyone to everywhere in the world and can deliver people to major destinations in their life. This is a big inspiration to me because, while I'm accomplishing my dreams, I will be able to deliver others to their destination to accomplish their own dreams. Aviation is capable of connecting everyone everywhere and bringing people to new stages of their life. There is a beautiful aspect behind all of this and the capability of doing this for my everyday career. In order to learn, a supportive system is essential where it is okay to ask for guidance. During my college visits, not only was I looking for an aviation program that would challenge me academically, but also one that has a solidly built community that will provide me with this support and positive environment. I have been accepted into several colleges and am currently awaiting confirmation of my acceptance into the aviation programs. I believe I have identified several programs where I would be able to be myself - a determined, yet witty, individual who would help to maintain that positive environment through kindness, encouragement, and support for my peers. I am a fierce and loyal friend. My support of others during their successes and their times of difficulty is the reason my peers and friends seek me out when they need guidance and where my leadership shines through. Not only do I feel like I have much to gain through my college aviation experiences, but I also believe that I am a person who will contribute to the learning environment of the aviation program in which I study. Knowledge is not only gained through classes and hands-on experiences, but also through social interaction with your peers and colleagues outside of the classroom and the cockpit. Additionally, this interaction outside of the classroom builds a network of people who are able to connect in the future when seeking information or professional advice. As I am coming close to the end of my time in high school, I realize that I have just scratched the surface of what there is to be learned in this world. I believe that my high school has prepared me well for my time in college. I also believe that my flying instructors have all provided me with wisdom about the aviation world that goes beyond what you can learn in books. I am inspired by the learning opportunities that await me as I enter a college aviation program and work toward my goal of becoming a commercial airline pilot, knowing that this career will provide me with ongoing learning opportunities throughout my life.

I am a singing, sousaphone-playing high school senior from Western Pennsylvania. My resume includes a 3.65 GPA and being a member of the springboard diving team, NHS, and Bocce Club. I am President of the Tobacco Resistance Unit, work part-time, and have also set aside the time to complete my first solo flight and log over 37 hours toward my PPL over the last nine months. I am a member of my high school’s Key Club (Kiwanis) and have logged over 430 hours of volunteer service at my school and in my community since beginning high school. Finally, an event I have participated in over the last three years which holds a special place in my heart is Camp Lutherlyn’s Polar Plunge, where I have raised a total of $1738 to help offset the cost of attending a week at camp for those who are not able to do so on their own.
