WTHS Class of '95 Memorial Scholarship
My name is Kynlie Green, and throughout high school, I have dedicated myself to learning, leadership, and serving others. Growing up in a family of educators has inspired me to pursue a career where I can make a difference both in the classroom and in the athletic world. I plan to major in Exercise and Sports Science and Education, with the goal of becoming an athletic trainer, helping young athletes improve both physically and mentally.
High school has been a time of growth, challenge, and discovery for me. From Freshman year on, I made it a goal to get involved, challenge myself academically, and contribute to my school and community. Academically, I’ve worked hard to maintain honor roll status while taking advanced and college-level courses through Frank Phillips College. My dedication earned me recognition such as placement on the Dean’s List, ACT National Merit Scholarship Qualifier, and BigFuture PSAT Honor Award Qualifier.
Beyond academics, I’ve developed strong leadership skills through four years in Student Council, serving as Treasurer and Social Media Manager. One of my proudest accomplishments was being chosen to speak at SUMMIT, a statewide student council conference. Presenting on Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) to my peers allowed me to combine my interests in sports, health, and education. Planning the conference and addressing an audience of student leaders helped me grow in confidence, organization, and public speaking.
Service has also been a central part of my high school experience. I’ve helped organize my school’s annual Valentine’s Day Spaghetti Dinner, which brings our community together and raises funds for local needs. I’ve also volunteered with Toys for Tots, Helen’s Kids Christmas, Vacation Bible School, and several other local youth camps. In my church, I serve as a sound and audio technician, supporting both youth group and Sunday services. These experiences have taught me that leadership isn’t about titles—it’s about showing up, working hard, and helping others succeed.
In addition to my academic and service work, sports have played a huge role in my life. I’ve participated in volleyball, basketball, and track, and served as baseball manager and a student athletic trainer. Through athletics, I discovered my passion for understanding how the body moves and how to protect athletes from injuries. In my free time, I study anatomy, training techniques, and sports safety innovations. My goal is to help athletes perform at their best while staying safe and healthy—physically, mentally, and emotionally.
My journey hasn’t been without challenges. Freshman year was difficult socially as I tried to find where I fit in, and junior year tested my emotional strength as I balanced sports, leadership, and dual-credit courses. Through these challenges, I learned the importance of time management, resilience, and asking for help when needed. I’ve grown into a more confident, self-aware, and adaptable person—qualities that I know will serve me well in college and beyond.
This scholarship would mean more than financial assistance; it would be an investment in my dreams. It would allow me to focus on my education without the added stress of financial burdens and to continue pursuing opportunities that build my leadership and academic skills. Most importantly, it would help me take the next step toward a career where I can give back—by helping young athletes build confidence, prevent injuries, and develop lifelong habits for health and wellness.
I am ready to take what I’ve learned at West Texas High School and use it to make a difference in the world. With hard work, faith, and support from this scholarship, I know I can achieve my goals and continue to serve others in meaningful ways.
