Bio

I am passionate about helping the disabled community. Ever since I was young, I have always been attracted to teaching and helping others; however, when I was in the eighth grade, I became good friends with someone who had a chromosomal disorder and I realized that helping those born with disabilities was truly my calling. It brings me so much joy and I cannot wait to dedicating my career to these wonderful people.

    Simple Studies Scholarship
I want to study communication science and disorders in order to become a Speech Pathologist and help kids with disabilities better communicate with the world around them and help alleviate the difficulties in their life. I hope to get a minor in Spanish as well, so i can maximize my community outreach and truly help as many people possible. I know that if I go to college and study something where i can help improve the world, I will be happier. I am a true believer that everyone can improve the world and I am so grateful that I can play a part in that.
    Bold Moments No-Essay Scholarship
Two days before our big out of state competition, I was practicing tumbling for our routine, when I accidentally let go mid rotation in a back tuck and landed straight on my face, breaking my nose. This was devastating and I was so worried I wasn’t going to be able to compete, but I refused to let my team down and I went despite being injured. I was so self conscious because of the scabbing and swelling, but I went anyways and refused to let that get in the way of me and my team.
Darryl Davis "Follow Your Heart" Scholarship
My name is Kylie Anderson and some of my passions include music, yoga, and reading. I love playing the piano, the ukelele, the guitar, and singing my heart out, even if I may not be the greatest singer of all time! I may never write songs like Taylor Swift or the Beatles, but music (and especially writing music) helps me communicate my feelings and I love that. I have a special interest in helping children with special needs, especially in developing their communication skills, because I think learning how to show what you’re feeling is so important.. I plan on going to Texas Tech university in order to pursue a communication science and disorders degree so that I can become a speech pathologist and hopefully help kids learn about how to better interact with the world around them. I have a special place in my heart for helping people learn to communicate better because one of my close friends has a chromosomal disorder and she has difficulty speaking, but she visits a speech pathologist and I have seen her improve incredibly. I am so excited to go to college and learn about the world around me and find people who have both similar and different opinions from me. Expanding my horizons is such an exciting process to me. I also plan on traveling around the world, hopefully joining forces with a non-profit in order to help kids with cleft palettes and other disorders that would impede communication after surgical procedures. I cannot wait to change the world!
