I have always envisioned my future in Engineering. I have always been fascinated with puzzles and obstacles and finding solutions. I love building and creating and deconstructing. I love being able to think differently in every day situations.
From the time I was old enough to understand mechanics, I was taking stuff apart just to see if I could put it back together again. Most people would get frustrated when something breaks or quits working and simply throw it away, but this is where I'm different. This is where my passion begins.
I want to help people with simple or even extreme circumstances. Receiving my education in Computer Engineering would allow me to do just that. I want people to feel safe while exploring the endless possibilities from the internet. I take pride in helping others.
Being awarded with this scholarship would allow me to put all my focus on my education instead of focusing on funding my education. Higher education is expensive, but that shouldn't defer students like myself from achieving everything possible just because of finances.
Everyone needs help sometimes and this is the help I need to be able to help others. This scholarship would allow me to better myself and my community. I would be able give back to my community by being the best I can be and thinking outside the box.
I already have a disadvantage in my career choice just by being a female. There are disbelievers about women in the STEM industry. They believe women aren't as capable, and do not belong in this industry. This is another reason why this scholarship is so important for me and all future women in STEM. I want to show women it's ok to be different. I want other little girls that grow up different to know it's ok to be yourself. I want to change the thoughts in the world. Women are just as capable as men and can do anything they set their mind to.
I want to pursue higher education and obtain my degree in Computer Engineering so I can love what I do every day and be passionate about helping others. I am a very goal-oriented person and do what I set my mind to. I would be devastated if I couldn't achieve my long-time goal simply because of finances.
This scholarship would mean I don't have to give up. I can continue to develop as a person and continue to give back to others.
Thank you for this opportunity.
