Bio

My goal after high school is to be an electrical lineman. I will be attending Northwest Lineman College in Idaho this July. I am near halfway to my goal of 30K and I am trying to reach it without having to apply for student loans. I am a 4-year wrestler and 2 year Varsity. I lost my mom last year so me and my Dad are trying our best to reach my goal. Thank you!!!!

My family has a long track history of mental health issues and alcohol abuse. My mother and I both have anxiety and depression and I have been working with it since 3rd grade. In May of 2022, my mom took her life and it has affected both sports and academics. But I have persevered throughout the high school trials with just a few more hurdles. Wrestling has been a big thing in my life for the past 3 years and I keep it near and dear to my heart. I do not get to share every win, little victory, and big event I attend, with my mom, which is very bittersweet to me. But due to amazing teammates and coaches, I always get my mind on the right track. Senior night was very rough for me watching all the families walk while I was the last one just with my dad. But hearing people cheer and come up to me uplifted my spirits. In school it's a whole different ballpark, many kids talk about their parents and what they do or just the severed connection some have and it's crazy to think about how many different circumstances there are. Many learning environments are comfortable for me but when it comes to touchy subjects like suicide prevention or jokes made to me or around school makes me feel uneasy and feel like I do not want to be there. But I go back and realize that we are in high school and nobody fully understands. I've had to adapt my junior year but the support from people felt fake but sincere at the same time so it was a confusing time. I felt lost through this journey but I felt a lot of new support I hadn't felt before. I shut out the world and just worked on myself and stayed in my room and that severed my relationships with a lot of people. Yet the real relationships stayed with me and helped me navigate to where I am today. Overall, the hand I was dealt has not been the best, but making the best out of nothing can change your perspective on life. Even though my Mom is not here, there are many other people here that can pick me up. I've learned that you must make the best out of the worst because if you linger on something you will neve be the better you.

The trade route has always fascinated me and I have always wanted to work in the outdoors. So by doing my research and kind of following in the same direction as my dad, I want to become a Lineman. I have chosen this because my dad is a substation electrician for the city of Riverside so that field has always fascinated me. I wanted to make more money and have the thrill of going to work every day so I decided to pursue this. This July, I am going to Northwest Lineman School, and for 3 months I will be studying the line business and what it takes. I plan to chase the money and follow the storms. I want to make as much money as I can without settling down so I can travel to the States. I live on the West Coast so I would like to travel to the mid-west or somewhere on the Western side so I am so what close to home and discover new places. Once I start getting comfortable I can start to settle down and join a Union. Since I would be starting so young, I can work as much as I can for long hours so when I am in my early 50s I can have a good retirement fund. I will be successful in this trade due to my hard-working habits, ability to try new things, and be able to adapt to adversity when it occurs. My whole life I always wanted to be first and always eager to learn new things. I am a very social person so being able to take a head role at the school I will be attending I can get more eyes on me and be able to get employed right out of school at 18 years old. Success to me means I can provide for a family and be able to give them extra things most can not bring. Like trips and vacations, being able to have an extra cushion and never worry about finances. As well as giving my kids the opportunity I was given but even better. I will be successful because I never give up no matter what is thrown at me. I have been given so many hurdles I have had to overcome over the past 2 years from my mother passing and having to step up and take responsibility in my life. Nothing will stray me off my path and keep my nose to the grindstone until it's finished.
