Since the age of three, soccer has been a passion of mine. It is a large part of my life, but I still maintain the balance between it and my 4.68 GPA while staying in touch with friends. Right now, I play on one of the best teams in the country. We are currently ranked #1 in the state of Georgia and top 100 in the nation, participating in the top showcases and tournaments. Traveling across the country to large cities such as Chicago, New York City, Raleigh, Baltimore, and Phoenix while being able to network myself to multiple coaches has been a fun and eye-opening experience. Even though I get to spend time with my teammates, I have matured by developing time management skills. When missing school for these tournaments, I must stay ahead on homework by working on our trips and keeping excellent communication with my teachers. My experience of traveling the country and developing these off the field skills through soccer has made me into a better person athletically and academically. My club team is not the only one I play for. The past four years, I have also played high school soccer at Chiles in Tallahassee, Florida. While captaining this team for the last two years, I have developed quality leadership skills. Telling my teammates where to position themselves on the field and helping them grow is something I take pride in and look forward to every time I step on the pitch. Working with and leading multiple top teams is something I have strived for since I was little. As you can see, I have always been enthusiastic about soccer and deeply invested in the soccer world. From my devoted following of soccer, I plan to take my journey to Clarkson University—a private college in upstate New York—where I will continue to play soccer at the collegiate level. After finishing my high school season this year, with a great record and better friends, I realized that I cannot end my soccer career early. Knowing that Clarkson can provide me this, I am hungry to win more trophies and be apart of this amazing culture built by soccer. Even though I learned about Clarkson through the showcases I attended, their highly ranked engineering program drew me to their college. Right now, I want to get a degree in Electrical Engineering so I can combat the efforts of global warming and lessen the use of non-renewable hydrocarbon gases that make up 84% of the world’s energy. My goal is to help drive society to a more efficient and environmentally friendly energy source that can be used without the worry of running out later. My interest in computer’s functionality and seeing the effects of carbon emissions has driven me towards this goal. I plan to accomplish my dream by increasing the efficiency of electric cars and the energy output of solar panels. I know the multiple skills I have learned from soccer and pursuing a degree at Clarkson will help me conduct my eco-friendly dream.
