I am relatively early in my religious journey. I went to church as a child but never really connected with any of it. I never quite understood religion until I got older. Many of my new friends attend church, and they are the reason why I stepped out of my shell to pursue a life through Christ. I remember not really knowing anything about religion but still being able to hold deep genuine conversations about faith with my friends because it all just came from my heart. I now attend a youth group for college students every week where we discuss challenges we face in our life’s at our age.
I can tell quickly that changing my life to follow Christ has made my life better. I’ve gained plenty of wisdom by reading some of the chapters in the good book and I feel like I view the world in a different way. I’ve learned not to value money as a god, but only as a means to live our life through God. The money we have isn’t ours, we are just stewards of Gods money.
As a college student, I am under a lot of stress. Am I making the right decisions? Am I pursuing the right degree? Is this the career path for me? How am I going to pay for all of this? With all of these questions fogging my brain, I know that I can rest my head at night and trust that the lord will provide for me.
I plan to use my faith later in life to spread goodness to all. Faith isn’t just a personal thing. Yes, we do need to have a personal relationship with Christ, but what is just as important is spreading the love for the lord with all of those around us. I plan to use religion as a guiding factor as what to do next in life. All throughout the Bible we hear of people hearing the lord tell them what to do or seeing the next step through symbolism. I will look for those symbols and listen for that voice to guide me in whatever life throws my way.
This scholarship would help me reach my educational goals on a level that words cannot describe. I hope that my religious story, although short, may still be enough to be deserving of this award. Thank you for this generous opportunity.
