Hi! My name is Krita and I am a senior in the PLTW Biomedical Sciences Program at Bel Air High School, located in Bel Air, Maryland. In this program, I am given the opportunity to expand my knowledge and experience in many different fields of medical science. Through this program, I have built a diverse skill set composed of various laboratory procedures, some of which include micropipetting, gel electrophoresis, ELISA testing, bacterial culturing, bacterial transformation, DNA extraction and ligation, and PCR. I have also participated in many dissections and labs through this program which has helped in obtaining these skills. I have also gained a multitude of clinical skills which I hope to apply to my career in neuroscience or psychology. I am zealous by the brain, its workings, and human behavior, and I hope to delve deeper into these topics. I am a member of the National Math Honor Society, and I am in my school’s REACH Club and WISE (Women In Science and Engineering) Club, which aim to raise health awareness, and empower young women in the STEM field, respectively. I am an excellent candidate for scholarships as my diligence in academics and altruism expand to all aspects of my life. I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA, and a 4.71 weighted GPA. I am an ambassador for Words of Thanks, a nonprofit organization dedicated to showing gratitude and alliance to healthcare workers and patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. I always, and will always, strive to spread kindness, acceptance, and a sense of pride in diverse people from all walks of life.
