Normandie Cormier Greater is Now Scholarship
When I was 15 I struggled with self harm. I hated myself I would pray to God everyday to make me straight. I would be in a constant state of loathing myself because my entire life I was told what I was disgusting. I would use chemical burns just to hurt myself because I had convinced myself that I had deserved it for liking the same sex. It hasn’t been an easy road. I will be the first to admit that. It took a while, but when I finally came to terms with myself I have grown a lot since then. I no longer think I deserve pain for who I love and who I am. I am worthy of love and deserve to be treated as a human. I have come to love who I am, and have learned that my story can help others like me.
Giving Thanks Scholarship
Megan, there are not enough words to describe how much I love you. You have been there for me through some of the hardest times in my life. Even when I was difficult you stayed by my side, watched out for me, and helped me learn along the way. You taught me how to love myself, and to forgive others. You have influenced my life greatly, in ways you can’t imagine. I moved to America and you were one of my first friends. You didn’t care that I wasn’t wealthy, come from a good family, or anything like that. You loved me for who I was and helped make me a better person on the way. This thanksgiving I just want to say thank you for being apart of my life and making such an impact on me. Love you Megan
