I am not going to lie; nursing is challenging, but it is also a very rewarding job. Nursing has taught me so many good things and has also broken me for my growth as a nurse and as a person.
Working in the hospital, I was a caregiver, which I love, but I always wanted to do more for my patients. Sometimes, nurses are so busy that they can’t advocate enough for their patients. One of the reasons I want to become a nurse practitioner is to become a provider who cares for patients and can do more by teaching and providing more resources. While studying to become a nurse, I always wanted to use my second language to help patients who could not communicate due to their language barrier. I am a native Spanish speaker, and I remember how difficult it was to speak and share my feelings with a stranger. I often felt ashamed and timid that I could not speak English correctly, but having someone who speaks the same language changes everything and improves patient outcomes; that is why I was certified as a Spanish-English interpreter for both hospitals where I worked. I know it would be fantastic if I could help my Hispanic community by becoming the provider they wish for. If a person uses a translator, things get missing or never said.
I want to become a family nurse practitioner because I can have the flexibility to work in different areas, but I would like to specialize in adults and children. One of my dream jobs is to work in the health department and work for the minority community to help and provide education and care for them.
I am an immigrant from Peru who came in her 20s and did not speak English. I am someone who did not have a degree and lacked education. I was once misunderstood as a patient when going to the hospital. I was offered a machine as an interpreter, and that was so uncomfortable. I know I did not get the care I wanted. I came to this country with nothing; I am now an American citizen, a registered nurse, and a mother of 2 beautiful kids who deserve the best of me, and by continuing my education and fulfilling my dreams, I will serve them as the best mother they could have.
Where do I see myself in 10 years? I will work in a community hospital as a Family Nurse Practitioner. I will see myself more confident in my practice, which results in my patients' best care. I can help others in my community to prevent future diseases or to control their symptoms if they already have. I also see myself traveling and enjoying my time with family. I will be sacrificing time with my kids by going back to school, but I hope one day they will understand that I did what I needed to do for them and myself.
Finally, I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to apply for this scholarship. It will be a significant step towards realizing my dream of becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner. While I am prepared to rely on student loans, any financial assistance would greatly help. Thank you for your belief in students and for your support on this journey.

I am a Peruvian immigrant, a 42-year-old nurse who migrated to the United States a little over 20 years ago. We were raised by a single mother in Lima-Peru. Life was very precarious; we were three sisters, and I was the youngest of the three. My mom was diagnosed with cervical cancer when I was 13 years old, and I was so naive about what was going to happen after this horrible diagnosis. My mom battled with cancer for more than a year, but her illness has consumed her to death. I do not remember much of the details; that lack of memories of her death helped me to go through her loss. My sisters and I were left alone in the company of secondary family members, and even like that, we grew stronger and did not give up. One of the reasons why I wanted to become a nurse and even now a provider is because I want to advocate for these single moms out there who have to raise their children on their own and remind them that this could happen to them, that at the end if they do not take care of themself, they can leave them on their own. I know my mom thought about leaving several times due to her disease, but without good support and a healthcare system, it was pretty evident that she was not going to live.

Billie Eilish Fan Scholarship
"Ocean Eyes"
This song, released when Billie was just 14, captivates many with its ethereal melody and emotional depth. The lyrics speak of vulnerability, love, and heartbreak, themes that resonate universally, especially for people navigating first loves or emotional uncertainty. The song's haunting vocals and simple production allow listeners to focus on the raw emotion, making it a standout in her early career. I love the way she express her self with this song.
"When the Party's Over"
This track conveys feelings of emotional exhaustion and isolation, topics that many can relate to, particularly in moments of personal or relationship struggles. The sparse instrumentation allows Eilish’s voice to shine, enhancing the song's emotional impact. The vulnerability in the lyrics—paired with the quiet intensity of her vocal delivery—often strikes a deep chord with listeners who have experienced complicated relationships or overwhelming emotions.
"Everything I Wanted"
In this song, Eilish explores themes of fame, self-worth, and the pressures of living up to expectations. It’s a reflection on her own experiences but speaks to broader feelings of anxiety and mental health struggles, which many people, particularly young listeners, identify with. The song’s blend of personal and universal struggles makes it both comforting and thought-provoking for those grappling with similar issues.

Where do I see myself in 10 years? I will work in a community hospital as a Family Nurse Practitioner. I will see myself more confident in my practice, which result in my patients care.
Thank you for your belief in students and support on this journey.
Community Health Ambassador Scholarship for Nursing Students
Nursing is challenging, I am not going to lie, but it is also a very rewarding job.
I know it will be amazing if I can help my Hispanic community by becoming the provider they wish for. I know that if a person uses a translator, things get missing or never said.
I want to become a family nurse practitioner because I can have the flexibility to work in different areas, but I would like to specialize in adults and children. One of my dream jobs is to work in the health department and work for the minority community to help and provide education and care for them.

Barbie Dream House Scholarship
As I child I always wished to have a Barbie doll house but I was very poor growing up. It will I remember dreaming about having lots of toys but I really wanted a doll house. If I had can daydream and remember when I was 10 years old I would’ve had my dream is the Barbie doll house at a beach house in the Pacific Ocean. The water on the Pacific Ocean is very cold but it’s so nice just to be around, my doll house would have been on a big beach house close to the beach. My doll house would’ve had a three-story house with so many bathrooms I couldn’t count. Certainly, I am dreaming now of my doll house displaying all the rooms with full furniture in it and all different size Barbie’s. The roof of my doll house it’s red and the walls are white with a creamy tone this house has a light that I can turn on and off from my phone along with running water from the bathrooms and kitchen. I would have also had lots of TV and electronic working in every room and mini food items in the kitchen where I could play with all the Barbie dolls. I am older but I still love Barbie and if my daughter, a three-year-old, in the future asks me for a Barbie house I will work even harder to make her dream come through.

I am originally from Peru and then I migrated to the United States of America when I was 21 years old and am now an American citizen. When I was 15 years old my mom was diagnosed with cancer little did I know about her condition, the lack of knowledge of this disease or maybe I was just a kid who did not know anything about life. We were three sisters that lived in the same room with my mom, my mom was a teacher of special needs kids and work so hard to give us what we needed it. I remember when she started to get sick, my grandmother would take her to her radiotherapy and she will get home so sick. I knew that she was sick but as a 15-year-old child didn’t know the harsh reality. My mom did not respond well to the radiotherapy she was so sick that I remembered when we needed to assist her with the bathroom. One day after all those appointments my mom never return home, she was admitted to the hospital and she had to stay there and never come back home. My mom died when she was 39 years old from cancer and since then I knew I need to help people and then I became a nurse.

Elevate Mental Health Awareness Scholarship
I am originally from Peru and I have been in the United States since 2004. I come from a poor background, my mother passed away when I was 15 years old which changed my life. I don’t even remember if I was depressed back then maybe a lack of knowledge about depression or because I have never experienced something like that. There were days that I do not remember about my mom’s illness that lasted for months. Watching my mother vanish away from terminal cancer in the hospital for months. Even though she passed away I don’t think I got depressed or maybe God help me to go through that by myself. In Peru is very rare to hear about depression, because we do not treat it. When I was 33 years old I met this guy, in the US, he became my boyfriend and he taught me about depression. He suffered from deep depression and panic attacks I couldn’t understand how he couldn’t control that because for me it was something that I have never experienced. There were several days in which he used to wake up and was just laying in bed crying I always felt so bad and I just didn’t understand. One time we were on our way to the beach and then he pulled his truck down the road because he couldn’t drive, he told me he was having a panic attack. I took him to the hospital and he was treated as if was having a heart attack because of his symptoms. I just could not believe they didn’t listen to us, I told them several times that it was a panic attack. We stayed together for several years and I learned a lot from his condition, he was taking antidepressants and I think that he passed me his depression.
When started nursing school I was like 35 years old and I have a lot of pressure in school. One day all of the sudden I woke up sad and I could not stop crying, I went to the doctor and he diagnosed me with deep depression. Thankfully I was prescribed a low dose of Lexapro and in a few months went away. I will never forget what I felt and how hopeless I felt, since then every time someone wants to talk to me about depression or if they want to talk about their depression I am very supportive and I share my experience. I wish I will soon become a nurse practitioner I would like to assist patients from all backgrounds I would like to teach them and offer them resources if they ever feel depressed. We have a big issue with mental health in this country and we do not take this issue as a real illness. I would like to thank you in advance for helping people with scholarships and for putting together to write about something that has affected me and that affects everyone more than once in their lifetime.
@normandiealise #GenWealth Scholarship
I am an immigrant from Peru that came in her early 20’s with nothing on her pockets. My English was bad and it limited to look for better jobs until I decided that it was enough for me to progress. My migratory status within the years got fix but it took me more than 8 years for that reason I could not go to school but when I turn 30 years old I started college and I didn’t not stop. I became a first generation nurse on 2017 with an associates degree, obtained my bachelor’s degree in nursing the very next year. Now I want to become a family nurse practitioner, it’s been 6 rough years in nursing and the pandemia chat he everything. Even though the pandemia scared me away still I want to help people and help me by advancing my profession. I believe that this will pass to my kids, and the main reason why I am doing this is because of them, I did not have any generational wealth my parents were poor and I couldn’t get any monetary help form them. I will tell this my kids, 3 years and 5 months old, have already savings which is so important for their future. I believe that not only generational wealth is something monetary but also knowledge, I am teaching my kids the best ways to succeed on a society that is so competitive. My parent might not have leaving me anything monetary but the knowledge about to become successful in life was taught by them. My mother passed away when I was 15 years old and it was a very devastated thing for my to comprehend, not having her made me strong it could’ve been bad but instead I migrated to the United States with nothing but maybe 50 dollars in my pocket. All of the things that have happened in my life, specially the bad ones, have taught me to work on things to become a successful person. I am working in my professional development to leave not only intelectual legacy to my kids but also monetary because it’s important to have a push up in life. Generational wealth it’s so important to me because it will open doors for my kids I did not have, and by applying to this scholarship it will help me to created this wealth that eventually will pass to them.
I want to thanked anyone in advance for creating scholarships that help students who want to advance their degree’s.
